Tips for Measuring Your Dog for Any Sewing Pattern

1. To get started, you’ll need a measuring tape. Measure the neck, chest, length, and girth.

  • Neck: Measure around the base of your dog’s neck where the collar would sit.
  • Chest: Measure the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs.
  • Length: Measure from the base of the neck to the base of the tail.
  • Girth: Measure around the widest part of the belly.

These measurements help choose the right pattern size that will fit properly without causing your pooch any discomfort.

2. Ensure your dog is standing still and in a natural position. Avoid pulling the measuring tape too tight. This can cause inaccurate measurements on humans and animals!

3. Use treats to keep your dog calm during the process. Repeat each measurement a couple of times to ensure consistency.
