Free Pajama Pants, Bottoms & Shorts Sewing Pattern

|

Sew cute kids’ pajama pants with my free and easy pattern! And guess what? No hemming!

My P.J. Bottoms and Shorts Pattern was one of my most popular patterns back in the day when I cared about selling pdf’s. Sizes 12 months – 7/8 are included.

It’s totally quick to cut out and sew and because of the cuffed leg-bottoms, you don’t have to hem them. The pattern instructs you to topstitch these cuffs, but since I used knits this time, I skipped that part. Did I mention that the P.J. Bottoms and Shorts pattern works great with both knit and woven fabrics?

You could also skip the cuffed hem (even though it is cute), make the pants about 4-5” longer than the pattern, and hem to the right length using my tips in ‘How to Hem Pants with Any Sewing Machine.’ See how many options you have?

Just a note: I think they run a bit short. Probably because my kids are not tall and I used them to draft the different sizes. But I provide finished measurements plus a whole section on how and where to lengthen the pattern. So you’re set.

Happy sewing!

Your PJ/Short pattern is fantastic – I can’t wait to try it for my little girl (and maybe the baby I am waiting for at the moment too if it ever decides to come out). I would love to use these fabrics to make cloths for my kids. I haven’t really ventured into sewing with knits so not sure if I should go the Poplin or try the knits.

  59. Thank you so much for the free pattern. Yours is the only one I have found with a longer back seam than front for the crotch. I imagine those where the front and back crotch seam are the same length would not fit well and be uncomfortable.

  60. These are so cute. Could you make the pattern in adult sizes please?
