Time to Reveal the UnTutorial that I’ll sew up for August!

So…. it looks like you want me to show you how I made my superhero teacher totes!

I stitched up these bags a few months ago just as my kids were getting out of school. I let the kids take them to school and give them to their teachers as good-bye gifts. They were a hit!

After that I had every intention of re-formatting the embroidery design for different embroidery machines and writing a tutorial for the tote with a zippered top, but you know how things go. Crazy summer… I went to Denver and filmed The Quilted Tree Skirt. Then I took a long road trip with my kids. We drove through Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, and then back again!!!

And I thought you forgot about this tote. But I guess not because it won the vote for our August UnTutorial project.

For the next couple of weeks I’ll work on sewing up some more bags and taking pictures so I can write the tutorial. I’ll also work on design files for your embroidery machines. Tell me in the comments what format you need! When I’m done I’ll offer it for free, of course. That’s what our UnTutorials series is all about. 🙂

p.s. In the meantime, if you simply must sew a tote bag right now, check these out!

xoxo,

  29. I’m looking forward to this tutorial! Thank you! I use the .art extension. 🙂

    1. Hi Lisa, The .art format is proprietary to Bernina so my embroidery design software can’t export to that (it’s the only one I can’t do). You may be able to use .exp, which I will include. 🙂 Good luck!
