Here is the ultimate collection of my all-time favorite free bag patterns to make and enjoy. Are you a ‘bag lady’ like me? What can I say… a girl can never have too many bags! Sewing tote bags and purses is actually easier than you might think.

This list includes bags for kids, teens, and everyone else. Start with the easiest pattern—the first one below—and you’ll be well on your way to becoming a bag-making expert.

The Easiest Tote Pattern

This easy sewing project requires less than one yard of fabric for the entire bag. You’ll find that it’s the perfect tote bag tutorial to teach a beginner to sew. There are only straight seams and easy handles to sew.

Drawstring Backpack

Free bag patterns with pockets are the best for keeping everything handy. The Tote with Many Pockets is one of those. Cutting and fusing interfacing take up most of your time here. Use a home décor weight fabric so you can skip the interfacing!

The Basket Tote

The Basket Tote free sewing pattern is a classic purse. Skip the quilting and use fusible fleece instead for a fast sew! You could skip the piping, but I don’t recommend that – it’s such a pretty touch.
