Best Free Spring Quilt Patterns: 20 Fresh Designs!

|

I am so ready for spring! Spring quilts are some of the most beautiful and vibrant quilting patterns I sew, with vibrant florals and pretty pastels. You can choose to sew quilts that are all based on one color scheme, such as different yellows or greens. One of my favorites is Easter quilts, because you can choose to make it a religious one, a quilt with bunnies and ducks, or just simply seasonal flowers.

The brilliance of springtime can lead to beautiful quilt ideas. A simple walk in nature can sometimes give me inspiration and stir creativity to come up with new spring quilt designs. As I go through the house, putting away my winter quilts I can’t wait to start on new spring ones. These fresh quilt designs are the perfect start to creating fresh and bright quilts for this season!

Dutchman’s Puzzle 3 Yard Quilt

This Dutchman Puzzle quilt pattern uses three different fabrics in each block, instead of just two, in order to make a beautiful secondary design. Can you see the Friendship Stars and pinwheels in the secondary design? The puzzle block naturally mimics the shifting shapes of wind and petals in a spring garden, and since it’s a 3-yard quilt, it’s also the ultimate “Low-Stress/High-Impact” project.

The Style Note

To capture the airy feel of a spring morning, try the “Sky & Seedling” approach with your fabric selection. Use a crisp white or sky-blue for your background fabric, and save your two most vibrant floral prints for the “flying geese” blocks. This creates the illusion of butterflies or petals blowing across the quilt, turning a traditional geometric pattern into a Modern Botanical masterpiece!
