As soon as school is back in session, I find myself thinking about the holidays. What gifts will I give everyone this year? Will we have family visiting? What projects need to be done? And the most important of all: When can I decorate? I think the tree needs a smattering of Mini Christmas Stockings hung on it this year, so I’m going to get started on them pronto.

If you’re like me your holiday decor fa-la-las its way from room to room until each one looks festive. The bedroom is no exception with the Merry Stars Quilt. I crave color when it looks drab outside. Especially a vibrant red. Maybe that’s why my Christmas tree tends to be decorated mostly in red.

Here’s a more modern take on decorating with quilts. The Peppermint Mini Quilt is so tailored and clean looking, but will add festive color with an up-to-date edge to your walls or gifting.

One of the first decorations to go up is the Advent Calendar. My Quilted Christmas Tree Wall Hanging could easily be adapted into a sweet heirloom Advent that will remind loved ones of the quilter in the family for generations to come. Increase the number of buttons to 25 and attach numbers as you countdown.

Christmas Stockings are a site that evokes memories from Christmases past. Remember carefully extracting all the candy as a kid? These Argyle Quilted Christmas Stockings have always been a favorite.

In addition to the Mini Stockings, I think I will hang a few (or maybe a whole flurry) of Stephanie’s DIY Embroidered Snowflakes on the tree this year. Luckily they don’t melt when they are inside.

Did you know Gnomes are believed by some to be guardians of treasure? I think I’ll put my cute Christmas Gnome on top of the wrapped gifts when they start to appear. Maybe he will keep them safe from prying eyes until Christmas morning.

And along with your adorable handmade gnome…make a beautiful gnome mini quilt to adorn your favorite space!
