Free Flower Applique Pattern

This little flower design is close to my heart. I’ve  made three versions of it now. My original flower had over 20 petals! In order to make it easier for everyone, I changed the flower head design, making 3 layers of petals and each layer is a single pattern piece. That’s where I got the idea of ‘Firecracker Flower’ because it overlaps and bursts open like a firecracker.

5 Tips for Sewing Great Softies – from Abby Glassenberg

Last year Abby Glassenberg and I made friends online and decided it would be fun to guest post on each other’s blogs. So last month I was over there at While She Naps sharing a little bit about how to make your blog valuable to readers, and now here she is here giving us tips for making great softies. In case you are not already a fan of Abby’s you will be soon! She is the designer of some of the cutest softie patterns I’ve ever seen, plus she’s the author of several books

How to Try Hand Quilting – lots of tips

In a moment of frustration with my sewing machine’s free motion quilting capabilities, actually it’s quilting capabilities overall, I decided that I would become a hand-quilter. So this is my first hand-quilted quilt. I can’t really show you all of it because I’m making for Fat Quarter Shop to promote a new free pattern that’s coming, but I wanted to see if anyone else out there likes to hand quilt too.

Book Review: Never Been Stitched by Amanda Carestio

The whole idea behind Never Been Stitched by Amanda Carestio is projects that require little or no sewing. I love it because these quick projects can be whipped up in one session!

‘Thanks to fusible webbing, fabric glue, grommets, and other fun materials and techniques, crafters barely need a needle.’ – That’s what the description says, and it’s true!

Abby Glassenberg interviews me today over on While She Naps!

Last year I became so infatuated by Abby’s cute and informational blog While She Naps that I just had to reach out to her and try to make friends.

Turns out, she is so nice (and smart, but I already knew that). So we are trading guest posts… today I am on her blog talking about how SewCanShe came to be… and how you can build a valuable blog too.

Free Girly Fox Applique Pattern

Here’s the fourth design in my SewCanShe Applique of the month club. I’m having so much fun bringing them to you and you can find them all in my (all free) Craftsy shop . I’m calling these designs my ‘Far Away Forest’ Collection because they were inspired by  Russian folk tales.

This design is a fox, but she is definitely a girl. She likes to hide in the grass and watch the silly boy fox jump over rocks and things. There is also a sweet and simple tree and a lovely matryoshka.
