Sewing the Playhouse Dress from Fishsticks Designs
I had been wanting to make the Playhouse Dress by Fishsticks Designs ever since Bonnie came out with it! Since this post was written, this dress pattern has been discontinued – at least to the best of my knowledge because I can’t find it for sale anywhere. If you find it, let me know!
And then when I got a fabulous little package of Stenzo European knit fabrics from l’oiseau fabrics I couldn’t wait any longer.
Bonnie has recently updated the Playhouse Dress pattern so I was able to print up only one size with less paper than I’d need if I printed up all the sizes (you can still print them all nested if you want). She’s also including the pattern all on one huge image that you can take to a local printer if you want.
The dress was really quick to sew up and now I really want to make more.
Just by playing with different colors, this dress could be made to look like any number of princess dresses. There is a little icy blue one Cadie would really like.
The Stenzo knits are such a luxury to sew with. The content is 95% cotton and 5% spandex so there is perfect recovery and drape. The feel is very soft and thin, yet stable and easy to sew. If you don’t believe me, you’ll just have to try them yourself.
Happy Sewing!
