About Me

Who is SewCanShe?

My name is Caroline and I love to sew.  Even though we’re all busy, fitting in time to sew (or do whatever else you love) makes life more than just a day to day race to the finish. Every day I struggle with doubt (and sometimes depression) but I lean on my Savior and my family to help me through.

With four children and a room full of fabric, sewing for them lifts me up. Creating something beautiful brings me such joy – I want to start all over again. Oh, but I need to work on that pile of WIPs!

Someone I love and admire said:

The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds, or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before.

I bet you didn’t know this: I speak Russian. Yup. I’m a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints served a mission in Rostov-na-Donu. I hope to someday return to reconnect with old friends. I wish it didn’t cost so much to travel!

Some people wonder how I keep up with SewCanShe and the blog and all of this every day… well, I don’t. Not all by myself, at least. My sister Beka does a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff like updating the front page and the daily newsletter. She’s kinda shy and doesn’t want to be seen, but she keeps this site going! She sews too and is always inspiring me with new ideas.

Thanks for reading!

p.s. Wondering what sewing machine I’m using? Usually my Janome Memory Craft 14000, but if that’s busy stitching out an embroidery, I’m probably on my Juki TL2010Q.
