Button Up Bolero – new free pattern for fleece fabrics!

|

I’m so excited to share this sweet little pattern that I designed just for fleece fabric. It’s a bolero jacket that folds together like fabric origami and is secured only with buttons. And since fleece doesn’t fray, you can choose to finish the edges or not.

On the little blue jacket above, I cut small holes all around the edges (with a skip stitch blade) and then crocheted in them.

On this pink Button Up Bolero, I finished the edges with hand sewn blanket stitch.

This week I had NO TIME!!! so I made Cadie a little Button Up Bolero (with Heather Bailey’s Nicey Jane Fleece) and I finished the edges with the blanket stitch on my sewing machine.

I used heavy topstitching thread and increased the stitch length and width to as big as they would go. My sewing machine is pretty old. If you have a newer sewing machine, it might make a bigger, prettier blanket stitch.

Thanks, Caroline, for this pattern! It sure looks cute, and I can see my granddaughters loving a little jacket made by Grandma. 🙂

  2. Wow. This is adorable. I am almost finished making my first, and have my second cut out. My Granddaughters are going to love these. Thank you so much for your generosity in sharing this pattern for free. It comes together quickly, and I cant wait to see my girls in their boleros.
