Well, hello there! Aren’t you adorable! And you came from a $1 pattern! I sewed up the Dog softie sewing pattern Simplicity 1083 for my daughter for Christmas and she turned out even better than I had hoped.
Have you ever seen a dog in a diaper, lol? There is a little hole in this diaper for the dog’s tail. I love it.
I grabbed this pattern (Simplicity 1083) at Joann’s over the Black Friday weekend when they were only $1. It comes with a small dog and a whole bunch of accessories. So far I’ve sewn the dog, the bow, the diaper…
And this cute tote! I still want to make the bone and the baby bottle. Besides getting the pattern for a steal, the faux fur was left over from sewing 5 owls and a llama (all from 1 yard!). Don’t you love it when being able to sew works out so well? Patterns from the ‘Big 4’ companies often go on sale at Joann’s and Hobby Lobby, so if you want to sew this little puppy watch for another sale and get yours too!
Most of the pattern pieces are quite small, and all of them have 1/4” seam allowances. So I would put it at intermediate level. It didn’t take very long, though. I used fusible fleece for stabilizer in the tote, fyi.
I am so excited for Christmas and seeing my kids open all the presents I’ve been sewing!
So, what have you been sewing up this week? Did you make something with one of my free sewing tutorials or patterns? I would love to see! Tag me on Instagram @sewcanshe.

Have you fallen in love with Quilt as You Go yet? It’s a fun technique for quilts, of course, but I’m having lots of fun using it for pouches and tote bags too.
I’m so excited to share with you the pattern for our first mini quilt of 2018… Flora! This beautiful little quilt was designed by the very talented Lauren of Molly & Mama…
At my daughter Chloe’s high school (can you believe my baby started high school???), the lunch lines are so long that she has been skipping lunch! She’s always starving by the time she gets home because she doesn’t want to carry a big lunch bag as well as her heavy backpack – poor girl!
Looking for free table runner patterns? I gathered up all my favorites in one place – here are free quilt patterns for table runners for fall, winter, spring and summer!
I am so in love with the beautiful look of simple patchwork quilts with lots of squares. This is the perfect way to use up fabric scraps like I did, or you can make a beautifully coordinated quilt with pre-cut 2 1/2’’ square fabric pieces that come in mini-charm packs.
I’m also in love with the process. If you feel like quilt making is your escape from the world and sitting down to sew for a few hours makes your troubles fade away… this is the quilt for you!
Sew an easy beautiful apron with this free sewing pattern that only uses one yard of fabric! Whether you are sewing for yourself or for a friend, an apron always comes in handy and makes a great gift. This blog post includes a link to a free template that I digitized for you.

Hi everyone, I’m Chrissie of made by ChrissieD, having studied Art & Design and Textile Art back home in England I now find myself quilting, sewing and blogging alongside working at The City Quilter in Manhattan and I’m a member…
Last week our family was lucky enough to visit the Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. It was an amazing experience which I’ll tell you a little bit about in a minute, but first I have to show you this gorgeous art quilt they have behind the scenes. When she found out that I was a quilter, the manager there, Cynthia, was sweet enough to offer to take me back to see it and let me take a few pictures.
I had so much fun last week letting you guess which of the leggings above were sewn with the serger and coverstitch and which ones I made entirely on my home sewing machine. Well here’s the answer: the orange leggings on the left with blackberries are the ‘fancy’ ones that I sewed with my serger and new coverstitch machine. The aqua leggings look almost exactly the same and I used my sewing machine only. How did I do it? I’m going to show you!
Make your own sewing machine cover using my free sewing pattern! This easy to sew sewing machine cover pattern uses cotton fabric and flexible foam stabilizer to make a cover that is as beautiful as it is functional. I’ll show…

This must be the cutest little doggie ever. Thanks for inspiring us, Caroline.
I have a question. You say the pieces are quite small. Would it be best to sew this by hand? I can sew, but I am a novice, and this is "intermediate level." I am quite good at handwork. Thanks for sharing. So adorable! Desi
Hi Desi, If you enjoy hand sewing I think this would be a great project to sew that way. The largest pieces are about 10-12” across. It’s kind of difficult to see your stitches in the faux fur, but you don’t have to use faux fur if you don’t want to. Plus not seeing the stitches very well isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Have fun!
I love that purse and tried to make it until I got to sewing and turning it right side out. I had no idea where or how to sew it. The directions stink. Wish they had more pictures on how to do it.
I am making this same pattern, and am stuck on the diaper. I am an experienced in sewing, but for am stuck. I have finished the purse bag to Sandy the corners on the purse need to be sewn straight across. The directions are confusing. Any suggestions on how you can sewed the diaper?
