How to Sew a Scripture Case from my Free Chubby Lunch Tote Sewing Pattern

Sew a scripture case for yourself or a special person in your life using my free sewing pattern! This fun sewing project can be completed quickly and customized just the way you want it.

When our kids each turn 8, their biggest birthday present that year is their own set of scriptures. This year my baby turned 8 and was baptized – it has been so special with lots of cousins and aunts and uncles coming to visit.

To go along with her new set of scriptures, I decided to turn my free Chubby Lunch Tote pattern into a scripture case!

All I did was use Warm and Natural quilt batting instead of insulbright insulated batting (which would keep your lunch cool – if this were a lunch tote).

As you can see, I also decided to sew in little pull tabs in between the zipper panel and the side pieces. It was a fun touch that makes it easier to open the scripture case.

And it really does hold her new scriptures perfectly.

I used cotton canvas for the exterior (embroidered with my ‘I am a Child of God’ embroidery design), a FQ of regular quilting cotton for the interior, and Robert Kaufman Essex Linen (in black) for the handles. It turned out perfect!

So, what have you been sewing up this week? Did you make something with one of my free sewing tutorials or patterns? I would love to see! Tag me on Instagram @sewcanshe.
