Pattern Review: a Little Llama Softie from Jennifer Jangles!
Sew a Llama softie with this pattern from Jennifer Jangles. Her llama has adorable details including applique, pom poms, and an embellished blanket.
I love llamas so much I also have a free llama softie pattern, plus I sewed this llama pattern from Gingercake too!
A few years ago I had a little obsession with wool. I got a felting machine and I made all kinds of projects with felted wool (including this boy’s scarf). I bought books about every topic related to wool… including growing your own, lol! What was the animal I thought I could raise for wool??? Llamas!
Whether it is a fortunate thing or not, my obsession has passed and I mostly leave wool to the insides of my quilts. Although I do love a soft wool felt now and then – like on the face of this adorable llama sewn from Jennifer Jangles’ Little Llama Softie pattern!
This past week Jennifer hosted a blog sewalong for the Little Llama Softie pattern. She’s giving away 2 $50 gift cards to her shop and even though all the sewalong posts are up you still have a chance to win until July 28th! Make sure you visit the Jennifer Jangles blog to learn how!
I love how Jennifer’s patterns allow me to replicate her signature happy style on my own projects – like this sweet llama blanket! When I started planning it, I thought I would need to take a trip to the store for rick rack trim that coordinated with my blanket fabric. But then I found these soft wool felt strips that I cut with a pinking rotary blade a long time ago during my wool obsession. DIY felt rick rack – perfect! I even had felted wool balls in my stash. Don’t call me a hoarder, just the owner of a well stocked sewing stash.
Maybe someday I’ll be able to keep llamas in my backyard. Right now trying to keep 4 kids in the backyard is challenging enough! ๐
Be sure to visit Jennifer Jangles on her blog, Facebook page, and Instagram. Her happy projects are so fun and inspiring!
Okay… your turn! What have you been sewing up this week? Did you make something with one of my free sewing tutorials or patterns? I would love to see! Tag me on Instagram @sewcanshe.
