July 2022 Perfectly Pieced Quilt Blocks from M.E. Time Delivered!
Get ready for a new adventure in machine quilting! I’ve spent the last few days (and nights) making Perfectly Pieced quilt blocks using my embroidery machine. Scroll down to see what I made with my tiny quilt blocks.
I even made a video about it too so you can see how easy it is in real time! A shortened version of the video will play on this page. See the entire video on my YouTube channel here.
I don’t usually accept sponsored posts or agree to be an ambassador of anything, but when M.E. Time Embroidery shared with me their July 2022 box, I couldn’t help but fall in love. So I agreed! I’ll be sharing videos for you about the Perfectly Pieced boxes for the next few months.
Perfectly Pieced from M.E. Time Embroidery is a new monthly subscription box to help you piece and quilt perfect blocks using your embroidery machine. Kimberbell Designs is the parent company of M.E. Time Embroidery so you know the designs, embroidery files, and instructions will all be impeccable!
This is the first box I have received. It’s slated for July 2022, so if you hurry and sign up at M.E. Time Embroidery you can get the same one.
The Perfectly Pieced Doorstep Box included:
- A most adorable bundle of fabrics (7 pieces) that were lovingly curated and contained enough fabric to make one (or more) of the 5 different Perfectly Pieced Projects,
- A spool of Glide thread,
- A box of 15 Wonderclips,
- Printed stitch-out instructions for embroidering,
- A tip card,
- And 2 Kimberbell Clear Blue Tiles to help with machine quilting in the hoop.
All of the digital design files, stitch out instructions, and project patterns will be added to your M.E. Time Embroidery account each month. If you prefer, you can sign up for a digital only subscription that doesn’t include the box.
In-the-hoop (ITH) quilt block design files are included with your subscription and come in 4 different sizes (2”, 4”, 6”, and 8”). I decided to go crazy and make a whole bunch of 2” square Perfectly Pieced quilt blocks.
Why? Because I would never dream of piecing such tiny quilt blocks the traditional way – there’s too much room for error. But using the Perfectly Pieced techniques on my embroidery machine, every quilt block had perfect points and seams. And they were all exactly the same size.
The Perfectly Pieced subscription also includes a project for each block size The project this month that uses these little 2” blocks is an adorable mini quilt. I’m not sure if I’ll make the mini quilt or sew my tiny squares into a little bag or zipper pouch. What do you think I should make with them? I’ve already made 12!
UPDATE: I made a pillow cover with my tiny blocks to fit a small pillow form that I already had. My family loves little pillows like this. They are perfect for neck or lumbar support and easy to take in the car. This is how I did it:
- I measured my small pillow form – it was 7” x 14”
- I sewed 16 2” blocks together to make a piece that was 8 1/2” x 8 1/2” (the layout is one suggested in the Perfectly Pieced instructions)
- I trimmed the top and bottom of my piece so it would be 7” x 8 1/2”
- I sewed red pieces of fabric to the sides to make the piece 7” x 14”
- I followed the steps in the Perfectly Pieced General Resource Guide (PDF) to make a zippered pillow cover!
Watch the video to see how I loaded 4 blocks into one hooping to make stitching these so easy and fun. And be on the lookout for more videos – I’ll be sharing a new block with you every month for the next few months!
