Hello! Come take a tour of my sewing room in my newest video.
I want to show you all my favorite sewing machines and hang-out spots in my upstairs sewing studio.
Let me warn you… it’s pretty messy! That’s why until now I’ve only shown you photos of my sewing room. It’s easier to hide the junk in a photo than a video.
I keep thinking that I’ll make a video tour when it is clean, but that hardly ever happens.
Creativity is messy!
I’m going to share with you my least favorite thing about my new Tula Pink Bernina 770QE and how I plan to change it. (see the unboxing video here)
And you’ll get to see the project that’s currently on my quilt design board. Do you want to make one too???
You’ll even get to peek behind the closet doors!
My 2020 Sewing Studio Video Tour should play automatically in the video player on this page. If the video won’t play here on my blog, you can see it on my YouTube channel too.
Sew an organizer covered with pockets that you can hang in your closet! This easy sewing project is great for organizing sewing and craft supplies, fashion accessories, bathroom necessities, gift wrappings, and more. There are pockets on both sides plus a big interior pocket so every bit of space is used. I’ll show you easy step by step instructions for sewing this organizer and putting it to use in your home. Get sew organized today.
Are you sewing a Closet Organizer with me? I hope so! This is Part 2 of our free sewing tutorial for an amazing organizer with a coat hanger inside so you can hang it anywhere.
If you are getting started, make sure you start at Part 1 of the free pattern.
Be a basketmaker! Sure, you can sew, but did you know that you can make amazing baskets too using your sewing machine, some fabric and the same materials that you use for your other projects?
Have you fallen in love with Quilt as You Go yet? It’s a fun technique for quilts, of course, but I’m having lots of fun using it for pouches and tote bags too.
I’m so excited to share with you the pattern for our first mini quilt of 2018… Flora! This beautiful little quilt was designed by the very talented Lauren of Molly & Mama…
At my daughter Chloe’s high school (can you believe my baby started high school???), the lunch lines are so long that she has been skipping lunch! She’s always starving by the time she gets home because she doesn’t want to carry a big lunch bag as well as her heavy backpack – poor girl!
Looking for free table runner patterns? I gathered up all my favorites in one place – here are free quilt patterns for table runners for fall, winter, spring and summer!
I am so in love with the beautiful look of simple patchwork quilts with lots of squares. This is the perfect way to use up fabric scraps like I did, or you can make a beautifully coordinated quilt with pre-cut 2 1/2’’ square fabric pieces that come in mini-charm packs.
I’m also in love with the process. If you feel like quilt making is your escape from the world and sitting down to sew for a few hours makes your troubles fade away… this is the quilt for you!
Sew an easy beautiful apron with this free sewing pattern that only uses one yard of fabric! Whether you are sewing for yourself or for a friend, an apron always comes in handy and makes a great gift. This blog post includes a link to a free template that I digitized for you.

Nothing is cozier than a warm flannel scarf. Lucky for us, flannel scarves are so easy to sew! Stephanie from Swoodson Says shared a great tutorial this week with a fabulous and super easy flannel infinity scarf.
Throw a little love your brother’s way! Whether it’s your big brother, little brother, or the brother figure that makes a deep impact in your life. These are projects that remind me of my brother and that I think my…
Yes, I finally got around to sewing something for myself this week! This blouse is number 133 from BurdaStyle 1/2010. I love to sit and browse my favorite women’s patterns and pattern magazines and I was really nervous cutting into my precious hello kitty Liberty of London fabric (without having made a muslin version first), especially since this is my first BurdaStyle pattern to ever make. But the magazine model was also made with Liberty lawn so I knew my fabric choice was good, and I decided to trust that I could make any fit adjustments if needed.
Make a quick and easy summer skirt, designed by Crafty Staci, for easy, breezy summer days! Do you ever look at all those beautiful quilting cottons and wish you could just wear them? Summer is the perfect season to turn…
I’ve been counting the days until I could share this month’s Classic Blocks: Fresh Fabrics tutorial and giveaway with you! All because of the fabric Blend sent for us to use this month… the delightful collection ‘The Makers’ from Cori Dantini. It includes several panel prints with lovely ‘Makers’ sewing, knitting, and painting. They are so pretty and cinderella-ish. And the block that I chose for us to make this month – the Economy Block – is perfect for using fussy cut squares from your favorite fabrics.
Get ready for me to design lots of modern quilts for you!!! Okay, mostly mini quilts probably because I hardly ever finish my big quilts (UFO’s much?), lol!
Thanks for sharing, I’m glad it wasn’t perfect and immaculate! My sewing space is always messy. Thats kind of a negative word but it is and it reflects all the wonderful things I am busy creating. I love having a space just for my creative time. Thanks again!
What a sewing room!! My room was a porch sovereign and we repainted it and put shelves up over the windows. I can watch cars, people, etc. going up and down the street. Of course, I do only dresses that are cut out by the Community Center and some donated fabric to do purses, which they love. The dresses are for underprivileged children who need them. It’s been my passion for years. Blessings.
Love your spacious place with all the natural light. What are the dimensions of your room? We are planning a home remodel that will include my dream crafting space.
Thanks for the tour of your sewing space.
How fun to see your creating room……..great amount of space. I may need to borrow some thread.

What are your Accuquilt rulers sitting in? I enjoyed your tour!
Hi Terri, that is a pan rack from Marshalls. 🙂
Caroline
Loved the studio tour…..I think I saw a “cart” for your scrapbook boxes?
Where did you find it?
I don’t feel so bad about my mess now😊
Linda
Hi Linda! It was a sidebar from Homegoods. 🙂

Thanks for not cleaning! I appreciate transparency – and no one who sews has an immaculate design space. Keep it real!
