It took me long enough, but I finally made something (two somethings!) out of the crazy quilit block that I stitched way back in April for our Crazy Quilt Sewalong. In {this post} I sewed it and in {this post} I embellished it with some of my sewing machine’s fancy stitches.
To tell the truth, I loved this 18” block so much, that I had a hard time deciding what to make with it. We have plenty of doll quilts hanging around.
It was my husband who suggested the tablet cover and the matching sunglass case and I love them! I used One Shabby Chic’s ipad tutorial {here} (modified to fit my tablet, of course) and Sweet Verbena’s Sunglass Case tutorial {here}. Because my block was already quilted, sewing them up was a snap. I totally recommend these projects if you have any pre-quilted blocks laying around.
Especially with gift giving time coming up
And it was totally unintentional, but these accessory items coordinate with the For Pleats Sake Tote I made myself last February!

Have you fallen in love with Quilt as You Go yet? It’s a fun technique for quilts, of course, but I’m having lots of fun using it for pouches and tote bags too.
I’m so excited to share with you the pattern for our first mini quilt of 2018… Flora! This beautiful little quilt was designed by the very talented Lauren of Molly & Mama…
At my daughter Chloe’s high school (can you believe my baby started high school???), the lunch lines are so long that she has been skipping lunch! She’s always starving by the time she gets home because she doesn’t want to carry a big lunch bag as well as her heavy backpack – poor girl!
Looking for free table runner patterns? I gathered up all my favorites in one place – here are free quilt patterns for table runners for fall, winter, spring and summer!
I am so in love with the beautiful look of simple patchwork quilts with lots of squares. This is the perfect way to use up fabric scraps like I did, or you can make a beautifully coordinated quilt with pre-cut 2 1/2’’ square fabric pieces that come in mini-charm packs.
I’m also in love with the process. If you feel like quilt making is your escape from the world and sitting down to sew for a few hours makes your troubles fade away… this is the quilt for you!
Sew an easy beautiful apron with this free sewing pattern that only uses one yard of fabric! Whether you are sewing for yourself or for a friend, an apron always comes in handy and makes a great gift. This blog post includes a link to a free template that I digitized for you.

Handmade face masks are still important! Even when they are not required everywhere you go, you may still want to carry a few face masks in your purse or car for those situations when you feel unsure and want to feel safer. And I think we’ve all learned by now that fabric face masks last longer and are more comfortable to wear than the paper kind.
Who else loves pockets? 🙂 Aprons with pockets, pants with pockets, PJ’s with pockets…if I’m wearing something with pockets, I’m grinning. Today’s fun Friday Spotlight from Sew4Home is a quick and easy project that helps you whip up a pocket…
Here at SewCanShe, we have an awesome lineup of free tutorials for spring coming that I can’t wait to show you. But if you are in a spring sewing mood already and the daily newsletters aren’t coming fast enough, here are some…
Hi sewing friends! This is Sarah from Blue Susan Makes signing on to share a fun sewing book with you today. Sew Fun by Deborah Fisher just came out from Interweave Press and you can find out more about it {here}. This book is just what the title says, SEW FUN… full of sewing projects to make with your family.
One of my favorite things about this book is that it has tips on how the let your kids help with the creating on each project as well as a section that teaches YOU how to have FUN sewing with children.
<img src=”https://sewcanshe.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/PinterestPin28629.png” alt=”Pinterest Pin (6).png” /> Christmas is almost here…I love the excitement! Half the fun of Christmas for me happens in the last few days right before Christmas Eve. I inevitably need to come up with last minute gift…
A few years I designed these Sea Animal Mittens for my kids. During the non-cold months we play with them like puppets. Okay, during 11 months of the year, lol.
I was selling the pattern for a while, but now I’d like to offer it to my blog readers for free. So excuse the amateur photography. I was just getting started.
