Here’s a free pine tree applique design that’s perfect for all your winter or holiday projects! I put mine on a soft velour pillow, but you could also use it to decorate a tee-shirt, table runner, wall hanging, or quilt.

Guess what! Now I also have a mini version of this pine tree applique pattern.

With the holiday season already upon us, I thought the little tree pattern would be the perfect one to give you this month. It is very simple – only four pieces – and you can work it right into your holiday decor if you wish like I did on this holiday pillow.

How to applique (quick instructions):

I wrote more comprehensive instructions for applique in this post.

I used HeatnBond lite to trace and apply my applique pieces to the circle piece. Then I machine stitched around the edges. I used SpraynBond to temporarily stick the circular piece to my pillow cover while I hand-stitched it on. You can also find detailed information and tips about how to applique in {this free tutorial}  from ivy designs.

I also played around with the idea of adding tiny jingle bells to the tree for some extra embellishment. But in the end I decided I liked the simple look more so I cut the bells off.

Don’t you love that about sewing? Almost nothing is un-doable.
