Guest Post: Vera from Halabala Style sews up a Makeup Bag!
Check out Vera… who we all met during our last Sewalong! She has a super hip blog and she agreed to share some of her style with us here:
Hi, my name is Vera and I’d like to share my version of Sew Like My Mom’s {Makeup Bag}. I found this tutorial in the SewCanShe archives with lots of other {crafty little things to sew}.
When I first saw this pattern I knew I want to try it and use some floral print on it. I actually made the zipper pulls first. I recently received some leather scraps so I’m trying to find some use for those as well. I don’t quite follow the measurements on most of the tutorials. I don’t always feel like recalculating to centimeters. I usually cut the fabric accordingly to the zipper length.
Mostly I’m sewing during the night time which is not a good time to take the pictures of WiP. Since I knew I want to do this quest post I took one picture to point out the use of iron. I strongly recommend to take the time and press the seams and also to iron the final product. It does make the difference.
As you can see I added D ring to the side. It’s always nice to have the option of hanging the bag somewhere or adding a strap later on.
Well that’s pretty much it. If you like to see some more pouches and other projects hop over to my {blog}. It’s called Halabala Style which in translation means Negligent style. I like to do things simple, fast and easy way. Enjoy your sewing!
