When I heard that Liz (of Little Lizard King Patterns) named her newest design the ‘Sweet Caroline,’ I knew that I had to make it. Was it named after me, lol? Just kidding, I don’t think I’m that narcissistic. [don’t mind the wrinkles on the dress – this was her second time to wear it, she loves it so much.]
Update – this pattern is no longer available. I hope you still get inspired seeing how I sewed Cadie’s dress using a panel fabric! Check out all my tips and free sewing patterns about how to sew clothes.
I used ‘Gnomeville’ by Michael Miller Fabrics. It’s a darling panel print that has the cheerful gnome village scene along one side and adorable red with white polka dots along the other side. 2 yards were plenty for a size 5.
I love everything about it from the pleated and lined bodice to the bell sleeves and gathered skirt. It’s too bad that the pattern is no longer available!
Sew an organizer covered with pockets that you can hang in your closet! There are pockets on both sides plus a big interior pocket so every bit of space is used. I’ll show you easy step by step instructions for sewing this organizer and putting it to use in your home. Are you sewing a Closet Organizer with me? I hope so! This is Part 2 of our free sewing tutorial for an amazing organizer with a coat hanger inside so you can hang it anywhere.

Be a basketmaker! Sure, you can sew, but did you know that you can make amazing baskets too using your sewing machine, some fabric and the same materials that you use for your other projects?
Have you fallen in love with Quilt as You Go yet? It’s a fun technique for quilts, of course, but I’m having lots of fun using it for pouches and tote bags too.
I’m so excited to share with you the pattern for our first mini quilt of 2018… Flora! This beautiful little quilt was designed by the very talented Lauren of Molly & Mama…
At my daughter Chloe’s high school (can you believe my baby started high school???), the lunch lines are so long that she has been skipping lunch! She’s always starving by the time she gets home because she doesn’t want to carry a big lunch bag as well as her heavy backpack – poor girl!
Looking for free table runner patterns? I gathered up all my favorites in one place – here are free quilt patterns for table runners for fall, winter, spring and summer!
I am so in love with the beautiful look of simple patchwork quilts with lots of squares. This is the perfect way to use up fabric scraps like I did, or you can make a beautifully coordinated quilt with pre-cut 2 1/2’’ square fabric pieces that come in mini-charm packs.
I’m also in love with the process. If you feel like quilt making is your escape from the world and sitting down to sew for a few hours makes your troubles fade away… this is the quilt for you!
Sew an easy beautiful apron with this free sewing pattern that only uses one yard of fabric! Whether you are sewing for yourself or for a friend, an apron always comes in handy and makes a great gift. This blog post includes a link to a free template that I digitized for you.

I’m so excited to make a new batch of face masks that have adjustable ear loops! The masks that I sewed 6-9 months ago really need replacing and this time I was able to find the perfect ear loops with an adjuster that are soft and comfortable, plus they ensure a good fit. I changed the template that I used for cutting out my face mask fabric (to account for sewn-in ties), so I’m sharing a new template with you that includes 5 different sizes from child small all the way up to adult extra large.
Is it really May already? I’m ready to go to the beach! I already have my beach house, lol! Our Classic Block: Fresh Fabric sewalong block this month is the House Block. It’s a classic block that quilters have made a million different ways. If you sewalong with us you can make any house block you want, and you might just win a sweet bundle of fabric!
My baby girl sewed up a drawstring backpack! I’m so proud of her sewing skills. To be fair, I was already planning to sew it for her to keep her swim goggles and stuff in. But she ended up making it instead.
Sew a beautiful Carpenter’s Star Quilt Pattern! The Carpenter’s Star is a traditional quilt design that uses half square triangles. This simple and free quilt pattern from SewCanShe is a medallion quilt that has the Carpenter’s Star at the center…
This year Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Magazine started a Block-of-the-Month series that started in March — the Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Sampler. 48 blocks were picked from ALL issues of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks and reduced to 6” for this special sample quilt pattern.
