Sea Animal Mittens – free pattern for fleece!
It’s getting colder here! Is it getting colder there too? Yes, I am down in Florida but we need mittens too. Sometimes.
So a few years I designed these Sea Animal Mittens for my kids. During the non-cold months we play with them like puppets. Okay, during 11 months of the year, lol.
I was selling the pattern for a while, but now I’d like to offer it to my blog readers for free. So excuse the amateur photography. I was just getting started.
The pattern includes instructions and pattern pieces for 5 different kinds of mittens, including the clownfish above and a similar tropical fish…
A sea turtle…
A crocodile…
And a killer whale.
Since these mittens are puppet-like, the thumb spots are in unorthodox places – in the fish’s fin, whale’s mouth, and turtle’s leg, for example. This doesn’t prevent the mittens from doing their main job – to keep little hands warm, but it might prevent dexterity. However, what mitten doesn’t!

Thank you for the pattern, I am going to make my son-in-law the crocodile…and my daughter is going to get the turtle (LOL)
Dear Caroline – thank you so much for all of your wonderful free patterns – which make it possible for lots of people on a tight budget to make beautiful things. These animal mittens are wonderful and I will be making some for my 5 grandchildren.
