This is my honest review of the Bob Pocket Pillowcase Pattern from Dog Under My Desk. I have a free 1 Yard Pillowcase Pattern here on my sewing blog too!

My husband sleeps with an iPhone under his pillow which sometimes migrates around the bed and even worse, can get stolen by little hands. Yes, we have early risers in our house and the youngest who is only four has been known to sneak in at 5 am, steal daddy’s iPhone from under his pillow, and use it to play video games while he sleeps past his alarm (which she turned off because it  interrupted her game!).

So this year for Valentine’s Day I made him a special present: The Bob Pocket pillowcase from Dog Under My Desk! This expertly designed pdf pattern includes a clever pocket for your smart phone. Because tell the truth, when was the last time you used an alarm clock? Everyone I know sleeps next to (or with) their phone and wakes up to the alarm.

Funny side story… a couple years ago while on a cruise with my brother and his wife, they participated in that adult-only newlywed game on stage and when asked ‘what’s the first thing you touch when you wake up in the morning?’ he candidly answered ‘my phone.’ LOL, I know they wanted a more colorful answer but he was only being honest.

Anywho… since I’m not a big fan of ‘manly’ fabrics (what are those anyway?) I chose my go-to boy chevrons and this cute bicycle print – both from Riley Blake.

Why would you need a pdf pattern for a pillowcase, you ask? Well, this one is expertly drafted with a envelope opening, french seams…

And that sweet pocket with an opening at the bottom for the phone cords. Use it to charge your phone while you sleep or listen to music.

The pattern also includes instructions for a second travel-size pillow with a handy strap to keep it attached to your luggage or your headrest! I see this one in our future too. Especially since I was able to make the first Bob Pocket pillowcase in just under two hours start to finish. It was a perfect {I forgot to get my husband anything} Valentine’s Day gift!

So head on over to Dog Under My Desk and check out this pattern along with all of Erin’s must have patterns!
