Support local quilters… go to their show!
Are you ready to be inspired?
The weekend before last our local guild of the National Quilting Association had a show. I took my hubby so I could show him the ‘quilt culture’ that I love (he had a day off work)… and Cadie skipped pre-school and tagged along.
This one was my favorite and I am without words to explain why. I love the colors, the facial expressions, and the repeated shapes.
And this quilt artist blows my mind. I totally want to meet her someday.
Here’s Cadie’s favorite quilt. I love how life-like the dog is, but I really, really, really don’t feel inspired to make a dog quilt myself. Here’s hoping she forgets.
This one was totally inspiring, of course. The piecing in the center was minuscule! She used a paper piecing technique for that part.
This quilt won first place for ‘alternative techniques.’ She used a fabric resist technique with black fabric and bleach. Isn’t that fabulous?
There were more amazing sights like witches riding chickens…
art dolls…
And a Quilt Trolley outside. Yes, it was a travelling quilt shop complete with fabric, notions and patterns! They let Cadie ring the bell. ๐
Totally fun day, and so inspiring. Thank you Seaside Piecemakers!
