It was so much fun to see what everybody was good at… some people had talents that I already knew about and some people totally surprised me. I wanted to participate, but I couldn’t think of any way to show off my one talent (sewing).
Sewing is not a talent that’s usually performed in public. But why not?
So I decided to show off how quickly I can sew a pair of pants!
Just a preface: before my friend started recording this, I asked for a volunteer from the audience. A cute 5 year old named Lamari raised his hand. I held up a few prepared pattern templates for pants to see what size he was and then I measured a piece of elastic around his waist. He picked out some fabric from a stack and then I quickly cut out the fabric around the pattern piece. How long do you think it took me to sew them up?
Watch the video above to see! I hope you laugh. I hope you think I’m silly, cause I know that I am.
If the video doesn’t play in the video above, you can find it on my YouTube channel here.
Do you want to make some simple pants too? Try my free PJ Bottoms & Shorts Pattern. It’s just like the one I was using in the video, except I hemmed the bottom instead of adding cuffs.

There are pockets on both sides plus a big interior pocket so every bit of space is used. I’ll show you easy step by step instructions for sewing this organizer and putting it to use in your home. Are you sewing a Closet Organizer with me? I hope so! This is Part 2 of our free sewing tutorial for an amazing organizer with a coat hanger inside so you can hang it anywhere.

At my daughter Chloe’s high school (can you believe my baby started high school???), the lunch lines are so long that she has been skipping lunch! She’s always starving by the time she gets home because she doesn’t want to carry a big lunch bag as well as her heavy backpack – poor girl!

I am so in love with the beautiful look of simple patchwork quilts with lots of squares. This is the perfect way to use up fabric scraps like I did, or you can make a beautifully coordinated quilt with pre-cut 2 1/2’’ square fabric pieces that come in mini-charm packs.
I’m also in love with the process. If you feel like quilt making is your escape from the world and sitting down to sew for a few hours makes your troubles fade away… this is the quilt for you!
Sew an easy beautiful apron with this free sewing pattern that only uses one yard of fabric! Whether you are sewing for yourself or for a friend, an apron always comes in handy and makes a great gift. This blog post includes a link to a free template that I digitized for you.

If I took an art class and had to pick something and paint a study, it would be a sewing machine. What other item is the object of all my daydreaming? Two of my kids are currently taking a summer art class and I’m sure that’s why I’m even thinking about it.

That’s seriously cool! 3 minutes- surely a record?!!
Lol. I love the video u posted on speed sewing pj pants! Look at how proud the little one was to wear them! What a way to make his heart feel loved ! He will remember this forever! I believe that God gave us sewing as a talent so we can bless others. In the bible there is a seamstress named “Dorcas” that made her living sewing beautiful garments for others! God felt it was important enough to mention it in His word so I’m so glad u shared your talent with others
That was a bona fide way to do a waistband – that way the elastic can be shortened or added to because it isn’t stitched to the fabric. I’ve done it that way many times.
