I got a book by special delivery today… not just any book, MY book! Just for You is Sarah Markos’ and mine, actually. It’s so weird and unreal. We’ve been dreaming, planning, talking, and working on this for over two years and now there is an actual book!
Stash Books (an imprint of C&T Publishing) did such a fabulous job on the photography and layout for us. They asked us for ideas and we suggested styling it like a fancy magazine… something in between Mollie Makes and Marie Claire. It’s exactly what Sarah and I wanted.
Since the theme is ‘selfish sewing,’ we filled it with tote bags, scarves, skirts, pouches, and of course dresses! You’re gonna see some really up and coming designers in here, such as Sara Lawson, Delia Randall, and Amy Smart.
Just For You is available to purchase now and the eBook edition is availablefor even less! It includes a downloadable and printable file of everything, including the pattern sheets.
Thanks for reading, this… I know I keep repeating it but it’s so weird and amazing to see your own name on a book!

At my daughter Chloe’s high school (can you believe my baby started high school???), the lunch lines are so long that she has been skipping lunch! She’s always starving by the time she gets home because she doesn’t want to carry a big lunch bag as well as her heavy backpack – poor girl!

I am so in love with the beautiful look of simple patchwork quilts with lots of squares. This is the perfect way to use up fabric scraps like I did, or you can make a beautifully coordinated quilt with pre-cut 2 1/2’’ square fabric pieces that come in mini-charm packs.
I’m also in love with the process. If you feel like quilt making is your escape from the world and sitting down to sew for a few hours makes your troubles fade away… this is the quilt for you!
Sew an easy beautiful apron with this free sewing pattern that only uses one yard of fabric! Whether you are sewing for yourself or for a friend, an apron always comes in handy and makes a great gift. This blog post includes a link to a free template that I digitized for you.

Good Morning & Welcome to our second installation of Create This Look on SewCanShe. This time my inspiration was the “Debut Dance-Off Dress In Floral” from ModCloth. This dress is so pretty. I love vibrant the colors in the chiffon.

Most of these I have purchased and I continue to use!
This morning my baby girl Chloe (she’s really 8 years old) had her first swim meet. I was up late last night finishing up a red and black racerback swimsuit from Jalie’s well-known pattern. I had heard good things about…

Learn how to sew patchwork tote bags that are so much fun to sew… I just can’t stop. Plus – sewing these easy tote bags with my free pattern is the perfect scrap buster. The smallest tote bag is perfect for taking snacks to school, crayons and paper to church, etc. I already gave the largest tote bag away to a friend. And I am keeping the medium sized patchwork bag for myself. Those are almost the last of my Cotton + Steel basics scraps and I am excited to show them off.

I plan to make the beautiful Quilting Bee Dress from "Just for You." I am not sure if the pattern already has sewing allowances. If not, how much do you suggest? Thanks.
