I got a book by special delivery today… not just any book, MY book! Just for You is Sarah Markos’ and mine, actually. It’s so weird and unreal. We’ve been dreaming, planning, talking, and working on this for over two years and now there is an actual book!
Stash Books (an imprint of C&T Publishing) did such a fabulous job on the photography and layout for us. They asked us for ideas and we suggested styling it like a fancy magazine… something in between Mollie Makes and Marie Claire. It’s exactly what Sarah and I wanted.
Since the theme is ‘selfish sewing,’ we filled it with tote bags, scarves, skirts, pouches, and of course dresses! You’re gonna see some really up and coming designers in here, such as Sara Lawson, Delia Randall, and Amy Smart.
Just For You is available to purchase now and the eBook edition is availablefor even less! It includes a downloadable and printable file of everything, including the pattern sheets.
Thanks for reading, this… I know I keep repeating it but it’s so weird and amazing to see your own name on a book!
Sew an organizer covered with pockets that you can hang in your closet! This easy sewing project is great for organizing sewing and craft supplies, fashion accessories, bathroom necessities, gift wrappings, and more. There are pockets on both sides plus a big interior pocket so every bit of space is used. I’ll show you easy step by step instructions for sewing this organizer and putting it to use in your home. Get sew organized today.
Are you sewing a Closet Organizer with me? I hope so! This is Part 2 of our free sewing tutorial for an amazing organizer with a coat hanger inside so you can hang it anywhere.
If you are getting started, make sure you start at Part 1 of the free pattern.
Be a basketmaker! Sure, you can sew, but did you know that you can make amazing baskets too using your sewing machine, some fabric and the same materials that you use for your other projects?
Have you fallen in love with Quilt as You Go yet? It’s a fun technique for quilts, of course, but I’m having lots of fun using it for pouches and tote bags too.
I’m so excited to share with you the pattern for our first mini quilt of 2018… Flora! This beautiful little quilt was designed by the very talented Lauren of Molly & Mama…
At my daughter Chloe’s high school (can you believe my baby started high school???), the lunch lines are so long that she has been skipping lunch! She’s always starving by the time she gets home because she doesn’t want to carry a big lunch bag as well as her heavy backpack – poor girl!
Looking for free table runner patterns? I gathered up all my favorites in one place – here are free quilt patterns for table runners for fall, winter, spring and summer!
I am so in love with the beautiful look of simple patchwork quilts with lots of squares. This is the perfect way to use up fabric scraps like I did, or you can make a beautifully coordinated quilt with pre-cut 2 1/2’’ square fabric pieces that come in mini-charm packs.
I’m also in love with the process. If you feel like quilt making is your escape from the world and sitting down to sew for a few hours makes your troubles fade away… this is the quilt for you!
Sew an easy beautiful apron with this free sewing pattern that only uses one yard of fabric! Whether you are sewing for yourself or for a friend, an apron always comes in handy and makes a great gift. This blog post includes a link to a free template that I digitized for you.

Voila! 2 messenger bags from (almost) the same instructions! I did have to cut extra strap pieces so I could sew 2 straps instead of 1. But I still only used 1 yard of fabric. In fact, I used exactly 1 yard with no waste at all!
Surprise! I have a free quilt pattern to share with you. Call it a Valentine’s Day gift. 🙂
Actually the gift was mine a month ago when Fat Quarter Shop emailed and offered me a Jolly Bar of my choice if I would just make something cute with it. What do you think?
Free motion quilt echoed squares on all your quilts with this fun and easy quilting design. This is the perfect design to quilt if you are getting started with quilting rulers, but even if you are still quilting without rulers, I’ll show you how to quilt it that way too!
This is week 15 in our Color By Number Quiltalong where we are free motion quilting a new designs each week on our Color By Number Quilt (free quilt pattern)! Find all of the CBN Quiltalong videos here.
Lots of you have asked how I use Face Mask Material to make my face masks work better. I am not using the material to make sewn face masks, but instead I’ve been making filters that fit inside my DIY fabric face masks.
New data has come out that suggests using a filter inside your handmade masks makes them much more effective. I think that’s something that we’ve all already known, but now there is testing that backs up our efforts to make face mask filters.
Sew up a darling holiday quilt to keep you and your loved ones cozy all season long!
The Little Trees Quilt isn’t just for Christmas, though. Pine trees are evergreen – so this sweet quilt can be enjoyed during any season, don’t you think?
I love classic quilt blocks! Each is a piece of our history as quilt makers and artists. You can make a whole quilt out of a single repeating block, or make a sampler with lots. Use reproduction fabrics to make a quilt like your great, great grandmother could have sewn, or stitch them up with fresh modern fabrics and the blocks come alive again in new ways.

I plan to make the beautiful Quilting Bee Dress from "Just for You." I am not sure if the pattern already has sewing allowances. If not, how much do you suggest? Thanks.
