Learn how to sew adorable owl Christmas ornaments with a free pattern! I was shopping at Macy’s a few days ago and I saw the most adorable white fuzzy owl ornaments on one of their trees. You might have seen them and know what I am talking about. They were crazy expensive – more than I’ve ever spent on Christmas ornaments before, but they were so pretty and cute that I walked around with two of them in my hands for about half an hour before I could exert all my willpower to put them back.
I used my sewing machine’s walking foot to make sewing the faux fur easier. Not required, but helpful.
But that’s not the end of this story… I was inspired to use my free Adorable Owl Sewing Pattern to make white fuzzy owl Christmas ornaments of my own!
I actually sewed a whole parliament of owls – all sizes, lol! I used white faux rabbit fur that I got at Joann’s for the body pieces on all of these, and colorful quilting cotton scraps and fat quarters for the tummy pieces. I bought the faux rabbit fur for a different project that I will be showing you next week. I am so glad that I rounded up to a full yard at the cutting counter because it gave me this much extra!
Then I threaded some 1/8” wide satin ribbon onto a large-eyed needle…
And sewed one stitch in the top of a ‘pincushion size’ owl. See my free pattern for more details.
Tie the ribbon in a knot at the top and you’re done!
Here’s my niece showing off the little owl ornament we made together.
He looks so cute snuggled up in my wreath. I can’t wait to get a Christmas tree! And I’m so glad I resisted the Macy’s owl ornaments because now I have my very own.
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving… and maybe found a little time to sew in between cooking and visiting with family and friends?
