8 Outrageous Warning Signs: Stop Sewing (for the Day)!

|

Sewing is a rewarding and necessary skill, but sometimes you have been sewing so long that you really need to call it a day. Turn off the power, get off your seat, and walk away from the sewing machine until tomorrow!

Maybe you’re digging in for a deadline, or perhaps you’re just ready to see the other end of the project. Wherever you are, here are some signs that you’ve been at it long enough (for today, anyway).

They’ve talked it through, and they’re demanding recourse for overuse…or else! What can you do but start again in the morning?

You’re Seeing Double

When is the last time you took a drink of water? Did you dream of your sewing project and start first thing in the morning? Maybe seeing two pairs of scissors is a sign that you’ve been at it so long that you’re not really going to make much progress today.

You’ve Run out of Thread and the Stores are Closed

No! Don’t wake up your friends to borrow thread (even though they get it). Just turn out the lights and hit the sack.

The Bobbin Thread is Plotting Against You

No matter how you adjust your tensions, how freshly wound your bobbin thread is, or how clean your bobbin case is, the bottom of your sewing project is a spicy disaster! No amount of aggravated energy is going to solve your problem.

Your Machine Quits for You

Does your sewing machine imitate your mood swings? When she’s having one of those days there is nothing to be done about it but unplug her and call it a night.

The creepy vibes are real, man! Cats what what they want, when they want it. You better make sure you’re paying attention to the needs in your house so you can live to sew another day.

How many times are you going to try, and try, and try? If you have any time left of your day, you should probably use it to brush your teeth and wash your face. A cold shower can do wonders if you must push on, but at that point I would get one of your teenagers to thread the needle for you.

You’ve been having a lovely day! The machine is sewing smoothly and the pins are cooperating. What can go wrong? Have you paid attention to the clock? All of a sudden your head lightens and you fall over. You have exhausted your body to the point of failure, and it’s time to recover. Crawl to the kitchen and get sustenance. Your project can wait!
