15 Delightful Layer Cake Bundle Quilt patterns: All Free

|

This wide variety of free quilt patterns ranges across all experience levels, styles, and sizes. They are all designed to use 10″ precut squares called Layer Cakes. Precut fabric bundles are a great shortcut to sewing a quilt. You can use them whole or subcut them into smaller pieces, depending on the pattern you choose. You can also use fat quarters or even large scraps to make all these quilts, of course.

If you’ve never used layer cakes I have one word of advice: don’t prewash them! I hope you can get some great sewing in during the holidays. Here are 15 quilt patterns of all sizes that I would happily gobble up this season!

Star Cakes Quilt

The Star Cake block is so pretty โ€“ both classic and modern at the same time! For this quilt I needed 1 print layer cake (I used Paradiso by Kate Spain for Moda), 1 solid layer cake, and 2 more yards of solid fabric for the sashing and borders. Itโ€™s a big quilt top too โ€“ a generous twin at 72โ€ x 90โ€. Check out the free sewing pattern.
