20 Spooktacular Halloween Sewing Projects
I love to just sit and sew. Halloween isn’t my very favorite holiday (that’s Christmas!), but Halloween fabrics are so adorable I can’t help buying lots! Even when I’m pressed for time, I’ll put together a quick project. Here are some free sewing patterns for you to get started on.

Trick-or-Treat Bag

Skeleton Cameo Pillow
I bet you could come up with some cool things to do with the skull applique. I really like the cameo on this throw pillow; and I love pom poms! Here is the pattern from Eighteen25.com.
Spider Mini Quilt
You can make this as a table topper or as wall decor. Perhaps your table is dying for place mats; perfect! This is sew quick to put together, and the quilting doesn’t have to be tidy because spiderwebs aren’t tidy. So head over to Seasoned Homemaker and give this pattern a go.
Burlap Ruffle Tablecloth
I feel like this is screaming for a murder mystery or some other eerie setting. Perhaps some shriveled witch feet underneath? Sew up a beautiful ruffle tablecloth with this sewing pattern.
Mini Treat Bags
I liked making these mini treat bags when my kids were in elementary school. They are simple and fun as gifts for a group of kids. Sew some for a thoughtful treats with this free sewing pattern.

The pieces are big enough that if you don’t have a machine cutter you can still cut them out with scissors.
The Nightshade Dress
I love the details of this dress; especially the collar and sleeves! You can make a decoration with it by forming a body from chicken wire, or you can just wear it yourself! It seems like a perfect hostess dress to me (Wednesday Adams?). Here is the free pattern from Mood Fabrics.
Patchwork Pumpkins
Pumpkins are great for Halloween because you can leave them up for Thanksgiving. You could also applique some triangles on to make Jack-o-Lanterns if that’s your preference. This is also one that would make a cute wall hanging, or you can easily lengthen it to fit your table. Get started with the free pattern!
Plush Pumpkin Pillow
Amy has a great tutorial for an on trend plush pumpkin. Make several for a photo shoot, mix and match colors, and applique a few just for fun!
Tea towels
I know that the photo isn’t Halloween-looking, but if you have a stash of fat quarters with Halloween print this super easy and free sewing pattern will bring the holiday into your kitchen. You can also make lots as treats for your friends. Everyone loves a fresh and clean towel.
Scrappy Fabric Coasters
I love a fast sewing project. Here’s a great one from Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom for some scrappy fabric coasters (aka mug rugs).
Spellbound Halloween Quilt
