Quilt Market 2014 Recap

Quilt Market also hosts a humongous quilt show!

Quilt Market also hosts a humongous quilt show!

I’m home! My quilt market fun is over for 2014. On Saturday I blogged about all the things Sarah and I did on day 1 – Friday, and now is my chance to show a few more of the fun events we attended, a few of the {many} inspiring sights, and giveaway a bag of quilt market swag!

On Saturday Sarah and I had our first book signing for Just For You. Everybody was so sweet and actually wanted to talk to us. I felt like a real celebrity (for just a few minutes).

Thank you so much to Daniar from Fat Quarter Shop who walked by and instagrammed this great picture. I didn’t get any pictures of the book signing myself, so I’m so glad to have this one.

I spent the rest of Saturday wandering the isles, soaking in the inspiration. These pics show (starting from the top left) Anna Griffin and her sweet team (from Blend Fabrics), a pillow by Anna Maria Horner in her new collection Honor Roll, a spooky surprise in the Quilting Treasures booth, clever pouches in the Lecein/7 Isles booth, Heather Bailey’s adorable owls, Joel Dewberry’s gorgeous new rayon fabrics, a dress by Denise Schmidt, me ‘n Heather Valentine (of the Sewing Loft), and a cute bag in more Joel Dewberry fabrics.

On Sunday I got to help a whole bunch of ladies make a Foxy Cell Phone Cosy… one of the projects from Just For You. I adapted this project to use hand sewing and Fabric Fuse glue from Thermoweb so we could do it as a make & take. The felt was from National Non-wovens. I must admit that having Darlene Zimmerman come over and make one too made me extremely giddy. She’s one of my quilting heroes. Sarah had stepped away during that, so unfortunately I didn’t get a picture.

After that I headed over to what I call the ‘church of quilts.’ About half of the convention center was an unbelievable quilt show (see the first picture on this blog post). And walking around over there is the extreme opposite of the showroom floor. It’s so still and quiet you could call it reverent. Perfect for spending time gazing at your favorite quilts. Like these:

These are just a few of my favorites. There was an exquisite collection of traditional quilts from all over the world that we were not allowed to photograph.

Lastly… at Quilt Market you get to take home quite a bit of swag. The icing on the cake, right? Would you like to win some of mine?

Here’s a bundle I put together for one lucky reader. It includes: 5 quilt patterns, a table runner pattern, a copy of Quilter’s World magazine, a few fat quarters and two charm packs, a package of Getta Grip clips from Dritz, some True Grips for your ruler, a kit from our Foxy Cell Phone Cosy make & take, a bottle of Fabric Fuse to make it, some Lo-Lo Lov solid moisturizer , and one of Elizabeth Hartman’s adorable pins (didn’t make it in the picture). All in a cute canvas bag from Passionately Sewn.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment below and tell me who you would take to quilt market with you if you were going… your mom, sister, best friend? Then if you tell them about our little giveaway (like tagging them on fb 🙂 ), you can come back and leave one more comment for a second entry. I’ll let random.org pick the winner in on the night of November 5th. Make sure you enter or leave your email address so I can contact you if you win.

*** This giveaway is now over. Congrats to the winner: Anne N!
