Update on the Inspired LED Sewing Machine Lights

DSC_0614.jpg

It’s been a couple months since I first told you about the Inspired LED sewing machine lights. The company (Inspired LED) was putting together a kit and they sent me some to test and giveaway.  I love my lights so much and love sewing at night too since having enough light is never a problem anymore. You can find the kit available for purchase here.

Well, Inspired LED has since improved the Sewing Machine Light Kit so they sent me another one to ‘test.’ The new led light strip is even longer (25”) to accommodate long-arm sewing machines too. There are little markings about every inch and a half where you can cut it to the exact size that you need. I took off the first set and installed this new set on my mid-arm Juki TL2010Q.

DSC_0603.jpg

My other sewing machine (the Bernina 1530) has the first light kit now. Doesn’t she look happy? In case you were wondering, the adhesive on the light strip itself is not meant to be moved around like this, but I didn’t have any problems taking the strip down and sticking it to a different machine.

The adhesive that holds the little clips and the switch, however, cannot be removed and re-installed. The clips and switch are held in place with those sticky foam pads. I had to scrape them off with my fingernails.

Luckily I already had some double sided foam sticky tape from an office supply store and I used those to re-stick the clips and switch to my Bernina. It was not a problem at all but I thought I’d advise you.

I know have the LED light switch on the side of my Juki, right underneath the power switch. So handy.

And I have SO. MUCH. LIGHT. You can read the spec sheet here.

Now for the exciting stuff… Inspired LED wants to giveaway 4 more kits! Enter to win by leaving a comment below telling me how often you sew at night (when you really need this kit, lol!). On Monday night May 26th I’ll let random.org choose four winners. Be sure to enter your email address so I can contact you.

Good luck and happy sewing!

  15. Pamela W. says:

For the most part, I only sew at night due to a couple of darlings who spend their days with me, grandma! Night sewing has always been frustrating and my solutions have been space consuming and unsatisfactory. These lights appear to be just the ticket for my needs and won’t take up table space. Thank you for the offer!

  16. Insomnia. Sometimes I can’t get to sleep, other times I wake up in those wee hours of the morning that no one should ever see. Yep, it makes my life miserable sometimes! But maybe I shouldn’t complain since I often get several hours of uninterrupted sewing time in? Great giveaway–thanks for a chance!

  17. I work in an elementary school library and generally, by the time I get to my ASR ("anti social room"), my eyes are tired and the light stinks, so I don’t sew very long. I got a couple Ott lights, which help, but they’re awkward. I’d sure love to be able to utilize my night hours in there! Seeing these light up that space is inspiring!!!

  32. Georgette says:

Nighttime is the only time I get an opportunity to sew. My current lighting is lacking and the overhead light I have casts shadows. To have a light on my sewing machine of this type would help me see like I was in natural light. What a fantastic product.

  33. Jody Marie Carroll says:

These sound wonderful. I sew almost always at night. I babysit my 2-2 year old granddaughters during the day, so night time is all that is available…and my sewing room is in my basement, so it’s usually a little darker down there. Thank you for the opportunity to win.

  34. If only it could be every night….more likely three nights a week….but there is always room to improve!!!! fp1898@gmail.com

Well, with kids sometimes sewing at night is the only time to do it when I won’t have interruptions so I guess I do it pretty often lol. Thanks for the giveaway! blondie_16915@yahoo.com

  36. Doreen Linehan says:

I would love to win these lights. I sew whenever I can. I could use the lights day & night. I live with my mother now and she only uses 60 watt bulbs. Her house is positioned so it never gets any sun so it is dark all the time. I refer to it as the house of doom & gloom. I have been trying to sew more but would love the extra lighting. Sometimes it’s hard to get the ambition to sew in the dining room due to the lack of light. I have been forcing myself to just do a little each day.

  37. Maureen Mate says:

Most of my sewing is done at night since I have a day job. These lights look great!

  38. I would love to sew more at night but if I’m working on dark colors I just can’t see well enough to do this. The lights look wonderful and would increase my sewing time.

  39. I was so excited when I read your first post that I went ahead and bought the lights (not waiting to find out if I won them) and am I happy I did! I absolutely love LOVE L.O.V.E. these lights. Every once in a while I forget to turn them on and I can’t figure out why everything is so dark until I do.

I’m getting up there in years, have the beginning of cataracts and these have made my life so much easier. Then I found out the company that makes them is right here in the Phoenix area and I’m thinking about other places I can use them. Thanks so much for bringing them to my attention.

  40. Nighttime or not, extra task specific lighting always makes things easier. The LED light in my machine died recently. I’ve since been sewing with upper gears exposed (not good) to allow as much light as possible through to the workspace. These awesome light strips would make me so happy!

  41. Use GooGone to get that leftover sticky stuff off. It’s this orange stuff in a spray bottle. Just spray on a little and rub in (it is slightly denser than water, more gel-like), then let it sit for a bit. Come back after a few minutes and then scrape lightly with a fingernail or the side of a plastic spoon. It should come right off! Wipe clean and voila! your machine looks like new!
I sew at night a LOT. I have one of those LED magnifier lamps that I got from Joann’s. It is awesome, but it’s a floor lamp and I often have to move it out of my way or re-position it. An LED strip would be just the thing to hassle-free night sewing!

  42. This is such a great idea. I have been known to sew into the wee hours of the night…..sleep? Who needs sleep? These lights would be a great help.

  43. Yes a light for night seeing would be great. I do sew in the day, preferably mornings, but there is never enough time. So evenings/nights while my husband flips tv channels I give my attention to sewing. I fiddle a lot with a long neck study lamp to get the needed light in the right spot. The LED lights would be a wonderful asset!

  44. I love to sew at night, since it is when the house is quiet and I don’t have to worry about anyone else needing me. Also, my little sewing corner is so small that I really need lighting to see in the daytime. I’m thinking this would definitely be my answer. nlewis at wildblue dot net

  45. I sew almost every night as part of my business and for my grandchildren. My eyes are not young anymore so I am constantly taking my reading glasses off and putting them back on, especially at night. I have been thinking about ordering these ever since I read the first post. I too, have an LED lamp but it is cumbersome to move out of the way when necessary. The LED strip would be so awesome and would definitely save my eyes! Thank you for the giveaway!

  46. Liz Smith says:

I sew a lot in the evening hours, especially in the winter. I bought a light kit after reading your first post about it and could not believe the difference it made. Like you, another kit would be great for my second machine and be a true eye saver when sewing on darker fabrics. Liz Smith

  47. Jan Harritt says:

I need more light during the day! So needing more at night goes without saying. Alex Anderson had a physician who quilted on her old show, who said every decade you need a certain increased qty of light ( lumens) to see as well as you did the decade before. Well I’m living proof of that! So I’m really having heart flutters over this new light!

  48. Mary Rachel Kolb says:

  51. Debbie Rogowski says:

I go into my sewing room sometimes at night and never even turn on the overhead light. I just use my machine light and desk lamp (boy that takes up too much space) I just get into my own zone and can stitch for hours. I would love to win these lights

  54. Liza Ahern says:

I sew at night for several reasons, really mostly because it’s when my very active 3 year old is asleep and because after a long workday and commute it is so relaxing to have just a little bit of "me – creative time". I also realized right after my daughter was born that my contacts were fine for far away, but sadly I started to need reader glasses so sewing at night has become an exercise in moving lamps around so I can see better. Thanks for posting about this – it never occurred to me that you could "add" leds. lizaahern at gmail.com

  55. Lots of night sewing. I bought the light, when you first posted the information. It’s fantastic! Another one for my other machine would be great.

  56. Lara Trottier says:

Goodness I sew a night more often than the day because I work all day long, and I have two little children that need my attention more than my sewing machine does. I would love this because the light in my dining room is something to be desired.

  57. What a terrific give-away! i would love to stop dodging the two lamps I have clustered around my sewing machine for better lighting. I have found at 55 years old my eyes really enjoy MORE light! Thanks for the opportunity and the great blog. : )

  58. When I do a sewing project, it’s all too often at the last minute, so I’m finishing it up late at night. Plus, that’s usually when I make mistakes! So while extra light may not prevent the mistakes, it makes it easier to see when I’m accidentally sewing over an extra thickness of fabric and prevent all that quality time with the seam ripper!

  60. Laura James says:

I’ve pretty much avoided sewing at night since I got the trifocals ummmm…a few years ago. I sew with dark colors so often, its just too hard to see under that machine arm. Better lighting would open up some more sewing time for me, which could never be bad, right? Great giveaway….thanks!

  64. Oooh. That looks awesome. I often am busy in the evenings sewing gifts for our college students – marriages and babies. That is my treat while my husband grades homework. It would be SO nice to have light like that – especially as my eyes don’t see like they used to!!! 🙂 Donna

  65. Sally Hilfiger says:

Even with the lighting my husband has added, I still struggle to have enough light. I have drooled over these lights! They don’t clutter up the sewing area like a lamp does. They just look like they become a part of the machine! I sew at all hours of the day and night and always want more lighting!
    Sally

My sewing station is in the basement and I have the light on my sewing machine plus two desk lamps… not the greatest set up but I make do… ain’t nothing gonna stop me from sewing 😉

  71. I ordered a set of these after your last post about them and they are fantastic. Before I got them I had pretty much given up sewing at night because I just could not get enough light in under the arm of the machine. I just recently bought a long arm & was thinking of ordering some more! What a great opportunity. Thank you!

  85. I’d like to say that these would come in handy for nighttime sewing, but the truth is, that they would be amazing for stitching any hour of the day. After eye surgery I just can’t see as well and try to put a light close to the machine, but having these lights would be incredibly amazing and, truly, eye-opening!

Thanks so much to Inspired LED for their continuing generosity!

But some of us having {cough cough} aging eyes, and even with excellent overhead lighting, this would be a great addition!

Thanks so much for introducing me to this amazing product!

The downstairs we have turned into a restaurant which leaves me almost no time to sew except for the evening and these lights would be wonderful on my machine for sewing once I close up shop at 9 or 10pm. I installed one 4′ overhead fluorescent light. It works but it’s not so great. During the day, when I can sew, the room is still rather dark, so all in all, the lights would be great for me anytime I am sewing. Thanks!

    these leds are very tempting.
I’m a full time teacher in high school, so my free time for sewing is the evening and happily the ‘holidays’ (it’s the word in french, I think in english you use ‘breaks’ for time with ‘no school’ …)

  123. Cindy Dahlgren says:

I really need these lights. I sew in the basement, with no real sunlight, and I have a hard time sewing. I have low light all the time. I would use these in a heartbeat, and use them every day.

  124. Carol Woods Meyer says:

Oh, I (sew) need one of these!
I sew a lot at night, and during the day. The light would help all the time!

  125. Rani Self says:

I would love one of these. I frequently end up sewing at night because I’m a big procrastinator and at the ripe old age of 45 had to have cataract surgery. The thing the doctor neglected to tell me is that I now need a lot of light to be able to see things clearly! One of these would be awesome!!
    rani@bobself.com

  126. Shannon M. says:

I sew any chance I get…. I tend to get a great deal of sewing done at night after dinner when the family settles down. Living in the South, we get lots of summer heat. I try to keep my house dark and cool, so I could use these lights day or night!!!! Thanks for the give away!!

  127. This looks like an awesome light! I get up early every day (3:00 AM) for work, and the body clock stays on over the weekend when I don’t have to go to work. Because I am up early, I sew in the morning on Saturdays and Sundays, when it is still dark out, and when I am not interrupted by anyone. This light would be heavenly to use on weekends. Thanks!

  128. This looks like a great light! Love to sew and have plenty of light!

  129. Donna Widerquist says:

These lights look awesome. Since my sewing studio(spare bedroom) has only one window, the lighting is not great. These would help immensely on my machine. Also, they would be fantastic for quilting retreats where the lighting isn’t always the greatest. Thanks for letting us know about these and the chance to win one.

  130. I was hoping my new machine would have great lighting but there is still not enough light! I am seriously thinking about these lights. Right now I don’t sew much at night but I’d sure like to!

  131. kimberly crooms says:

I LOVE to sew! Seems I’m always busy with household needs and taking care of my mom during the day so early evening and late into night is when I’m usually sewing. This would be SO much better than my office style spring arm light that I can never get into just the right spot. Lol. Kraftykim03@yahoo.com

  132. I don’t sew at night at all. In fact as I get older I find I’m needing extra light to sew during the day. Can still sew without it but it sure helps! Great idea!

  133. Beth Ann Smith says:

My eyesight is getting worse as I get older. I used to love sewing at night (so quiet and peaceful) but I can’t seem to get enough light to do the simplest tasks. I love the idea of these lights so I can sew my insomnia away!

  135. Brenda Jerles says:

I am sewing at Night a lot and and sewing in the daytime as well. I have lamps with daylight bulbs but there is still the shadow from the machine itself no matter how you angle the lamp. And believe me I have tried bending that neck on that thing in all kinds of contortions! I ordered one set of these LED lights and they are sewwww amazing!!!! I installed them easily on my Memory Craft by Janome, 4000. I don’t know how I even was able to sew without them. I would love another set for my embroidery machine. Being over 50, I need all the light I can get!
    Brenda <><

  136. I’m a grad student – we work all day long and it seems like the only free time I have left is at night!
    thanks for the giveaway!

  137. Sewing at night would be a whole lot easier and more fun with more lights. I only do it now when I have to get something finished fast.

  138. Rebecca Thackaberry says:

I night sew about once a month… But my sewing room gets dark way before evening sets in as I usually have to keep the shades down to keep the heat out! We’ve already had days in the 100s, so it seems that my summer sewing will be in a dark room 🙁

  139. Donna Rae says:

I probably sew 50/50 night and day. But even during the day that lights are a bonus. As we age it just gets harder and harder to see. I notice I need a lot more light then normally. I have seen some lights before for the sewing machine but never like these that you just wrote about. Awesome. Thanks for getting with the company making it possible for a few of us to win.

  140. I never sew at night I just can’t seem to get good lighting. I have lamps and lots of shadows. I think these would be perfect. Thanks for the chance to win.

  141. Valerie Hatton says:

I only sew at night now if I really HAVE to, eg to finish something urgently. Poor light and ever-worsening eyesight just don’t mix! I’d love to be able to sew when I want to – just like I did when I was young! :o)

  142. Night comes early in Maine and so would love to shed a bit more light on my sewing. These lights are truly inspirational!

It’s really hard to see just to thread the machine needle. I really need some new lights.

  144. I work during the day, so almost all of my sewing is done at night. I would say at least 80%. And some additional lighting would be fantastic!! I subscribe to your blog, so I think you have my e-mail address, but if not, please add a comment and I’ll send it to you.

  148. I don’t do a lot of sewing at night but this light set would sure help me overall. I usually have to have my Otte light on besides the light on my machine. Would be great to give this light a try……thanks for the chance at this giveaway.

  149. Most of my sewing is at night! Right now, to compensate for a rather dim ceiling light, I sew with the closet light on and door open, so I’d love to win these lights! Thanks for the giveaway.

    klgls@msn.com

  154. This looks so cool! I don’t sew at night very much because I don’t have good lighting. This would be perfect; thanks for the chance to win!

  155. I showed your last post to my sewing buddies and they loved them so much, three sets were bought! I’ll have to tell them about the new addition/changes 😀

I sew quite often in the dark – I live in a basement suite with very little natural light. My Ottlight has been helping, but having a set of these would be an eye-saver!

  156. Oh my. These LED lights look fantastic. My husband is IN LOVE with LED lights. As we gotten older we just need more light all the time. I have a little extra light already attached to my machine , but it’s nothing compared to these lights.

  157. I don’t sew much at night because it’s just too dark. I think this would help!

  158. Jeanne Gwin says:

Oh Carolyn, I can’t tell you how many hours of night sewing I do because I can’t sleep and then wonder the next day why my eyes look like zombie eyes and ache beyond belief. I would love to win a set of these. Thanks for the chance. I appreciate it.

    1. Jeanne Gwin says:

"Caroline" My apologies, used to my MIL’s name.

  159. Grandma G says:

I rarely sew at night, because my sewing room is in the basement and the lighting is not good, even in the daytime. These lights would help tremendously!

  160. Most all of my sewing is done at night since I work during the day and since my eyes are on the "older" side good lighting is really important. This lighting system looks perfect and if I’m not lucky enough to win one I’m pretty sure I’ll be buying one to take advantage of this better visibility!

  161. Jill spackman says:

Wow, I sew mostly after 5pm in the winter. After work and it gets dark early. At my age I can use all the light I can get. jspack48@yahoo.com

  163. Elaine Taylor says:

I would like to enter the drawing for the free light kit but could not find out how to enter. I ordered one of the lights. They look great.
    Elaine Taylor. elainetaylor65@att.net

  164. I get up in the wee hours of the morning and sew while it’s still dark outside. Cup of joe and this lighting…what could possibly be better than that?

  165. Debbie Weishaar says:

My sewing area is in the basement where there are no windows so I get no direct sunlight. I have to use overhead lights and floor lamps around my sewing area anytime of the day that I sew. The light kit would be very helpful to me and I’m sure it would be cooler not having to have all the lights on just to see to sew. Thanks for the chance to win.

  166. Dj Merritt says:

I cannot tell you how many times I have tried to sew late into the night and had to quit just because I couldn’t see due to poor lighting. I sew cooling scarves for the troops and sometimes have just a few days to a week’s notice to have them ready to ship out so it is VERY important for me to be able to see what I am doing. Thank you for the chance to enter and good luck to all who do enter

  171. Beury Stout says:

That’s about the only time I can sew! these lights would be wonderful to have on my machine for just about anytime tho:)

  172. shirley cree says:

sew most often in the morning before daylight….. the lighting would supplement the existing wall lamps…. thanx for the opportunity…..

  173. What a great idea. I sew most evenings. Even during the day, my sewing room is dark. I have lights on all over. Gets pretty warm in there.

  174. Cindy Weeks says:

I don’t sew at night, much, however, the eyes are getting a little older! The more light the better!

  175. wanda whitney says:

I sew some at night, but I only have site in one eye so I use the light on my machine, a light that stands on the floor, and another that is clamped to my table. I would love to win the light strip. I am sure that it would help.

  176. I sew at night a few times a month. The real problem is I sew in my basement, so even daytime can be challenging on an overcast day.

  180. Lori Michel says:

Hello Caroline, I sew 4 nights a week, I do not have any overhead light in room just my sewing machine light and a desk lamp so when the sun does go down, I have to put away my sewing. I would love to win a led light set so that I can sew away the night, and I sometimes light to sew listening to Bonnie Hunter, I am a huge fan as she loves to recycle and save up scraps….

  181. Carol Putnam says:

I sew at night at least 5 times a week. It is rediculous how I have to position at least 3 light sources to be able to see well. I then redirect them to cutting mat, and then ironing board. I would love the convenience of an Inspired LED on my sewing machine.
    cput@bresnan.net
    Carol P.

  182. Oh man – I pretty much always sew at night! I can’t sew with the kids awake… they try to get too involved and "help."

  183. Cindy Wendt says:

So really, not much night sewing, but still need great lighting. 🙂

    Sandy A

  187. Jeri Niksich says:

This is something I really need. The ceiling fan in my little sewing room takes a certain sized light bulb that only has up to 40 watts, I bought one of those stick on lights with the swivel head, the head got more in the way of sewing & didn’t add much light. I also tried a DIY with strips like these, total fail. I don’t get to sew until evenings usually so this would do wonders for my sewing! Thanks for the chance at winning.
    Jeri oldtisme@aol.com

  188. Karrie Smith says:

I mostly sew at night. So anywhere between 2 and 8 hours. Thanks!

  189. Glenda K. Beckham says:

I sew seven nights a week. I’m retired and raising three of my grandchildren. Night is the only time I have I can sew. I sew a lot of clothes for the kiddos, plus toys, bags, and anything else they may want. I don’t have a sewing room so I have to sew in the kitchen at the table. The light in there is right in the middle of the room and my table is against the wall so I get no light to speak of from it. So I have a lamp on the back of the table and my sewing machine light and that’s all I have to see by. Also I have Cataracs in my eyes and I don’t see too well anyway so these lights would really help me. Thank you so much for the opportunity to win a set of these. They would be a lifesaver for me.
    Thank you,
    okiemaw9@aol.com

  190. Andrew Epicness says:

I sew at night once a week….but my sewing room is in the basement so whether it’s day or night, i could always use the extra light! (:

  191. Andrew Epicness says:

Okay, so I accidentally just posted with my young son’s log-in. If you see this….you can go ahead and erase that "Andrew Epicness" and instead use my log in. ha.

I sew at night once a week….but my sewing room is in the basement so whether it’s day or night, i could always use the extra light! (:

  192. Janet Sorensen says:

It seems that I only sew at night! I sew costumes for a community theater and it seems that nighttime is when the theater is busiest. I have always been a night person and so it works well for me! The only problem is being able to see what I’m doing. Lighting is so important and good lighting is definitely underrated!

  193. Gina Snyder says:

Oh how I would love to win one of the light kits! I have had serious eye problems resulting in scar tissue on my optic nerves. This would be fantastic!

  196. Nell Ruscombe-King says:

With a busy job as a teacher AND 3 young children, sewing at night is my only option! My 3 year old wants to be involved with my sewing, so I have to wait until she is in bed. Living in the UK we also have MANY months of dark nights, these light would make a huge difference and enable me to clear my mind of my family (in a nice way!). I’d love to be included in the draw, thank you.

Almost every night 🙂 The only time I’m "kid-free"!

  199. I have recently moved my sewing room and am still trying to figure out the lighting. This light would be perfect! I hope I am one of the lucky winners!

  200. I love this idea! I just purchased an Ellisimo Gold and that’s one of my favorite things about it — the stadium lighting. I can sew all night. But, honestly, I was just about ready to put by little Bernina 1006 up for sale simply because I can’t see any longer. That little machine is truly the reincarnation of the old Singer sewing machines. Now, I’ll wait till Monday to see if I’m lucky enough to win a set, but otherwise, this machine is staying w/ me to use in my motorhome and I’ll buy a set of lights if I don’t win. Thank you! schilese@cox.net.

  201. I love this idea! I just purchased an Ellisimo Gold and that’s one of my favorite things about it — the stadium lighting. 204. Lisa "Finnie" Finn says:

I sew at night ALL THE TIME. Its the only time for me to sew, as I work 12 hour days that start at 4:30 am. Of course I have to have a nap every once in a while, that’s why I sew at night. I would love to win the new and improved light kit. Thanks for the opportunity to win!!

  208. Most of my sewing is at night. I work 2nd shift, so i sew after work and keep with the same hours on weekends.

  209. Diane Fletcher says:

I sew when ever i can,day or night! My problem is my eyes just do not see that good,i have a 3 way lamp i bought to see better, that did not work so i bought a led light that i set on the table when i sew,but that gets in the way while sewing. So i would really love to try something that would work.

  214. Susan Gray says:

I sew at night all the time. It seems there are literally hundreds of things to get done during the day-if I get my project out or try to work, there are too many interruptions. I give up. Everyone is watching tv oron computer at night that no one cares that I am sewing away with so many fewer interruptions. Sure beats tv!

  215. Patti Levine says:

These lights are a blessing and amazing! I have such trouble seeing without extra light and this would do the trick! Never want to cut back on any sewing time…..this would be the perfect answer!

    plautumn@yahoo.com

  216. Wow what a great Idea, I will order some now

  217. Jessica Weleski says:

What other time is there to sew? 🙂 Really, because I work full-time, I often do find myself sewing at night. Plus, I find the evening is best for finishing projects. The distractions of the day are done, and I’m able to push myself farther than anticipated, motivating myself with the knowledge that I’ll feel good to wake up in the morning knowing my project is complete.

  218. I don’t sew at night. Simply because I don’t have enough light to see by, with these babies I’d be burning the midnight oil! Such a great idea!

  219. Penny Galloway says:

I have had to stop sewing at night because of lighting and that is usually the only "me" time I have!

    sjm24@suddenlink.net

  222. I don’t usually sew at night, however, I sew about 4am until 6am every day. I have an "Ott" type floor lamp over my shoulder so that I can more clearly see to sew. If I don’t win, I am definitely going to buy a strip!

  223. Karen Price says:

I have an angle poise lamp to assist me with sewing at night, however, it gets REALLY hot and I’ve accidentally burnt my hand on the lamp bulb several times. LED lights are much brighter, lighter and cheaper to run than the usual light bulbs required for task lights, plus they’re greener as they last longer.

  224. Price is good but, money is not good now, so hopefully I win Thanks for the opportunity

  225. Vickie B. says:

I can’t sew at night anymore because the room my machine is in doesn’t have sufficient lighting and my hubby is not able to work, so I can’t afford to splurge on lights for my little machine. I sure could use those nifty strip lights so I can fit in a bit of sewing after work 🙂

  226. Susan Hansen says:

  229. Samantha Ewers says:

I almost only sew at night. My kiddos are involved in a lot of activities so I don’t get to sew until after they go to bed. Thanks.

  231. Like 90% of moms I sew almost exclusively at night. Right now I use a lamp for additional light but still battle shadows.

  232. Sharon Repici says:

I tend to sew in early morning, or late afternoon, but my craft room is never bright enough. The overhead light is behind me, causing shadows. The window faces West, so it’s naturally dark in the morning, and I have to pull the blinds in the afternoon to ward off the Arizona heat. I’ve tried one of those crane-necked lights clipped to a bookshelf, but it gets hot and shines in my eyes sometimes.
I try to sew two or three times a week, more during school breaks, less the month prior to Spring finals. Winter finals interfere with my Christmas sewing, so I cram and sew daily.

  233. Grisel Martinez says:

Yes I myself use an additional light. I would love this light. I’m sure it really works. Hope I WIN!

  234. I don’t sew at night, as my lighting is not adequate. These LED lights would certainly make the difference for me!

  235. I really need these lights because when I sew at night it’s definitely hard to see

  236. Karen J Brace says:

I do most of my sewing at night when it is peaceful and quiet. I am north of 55 years old so a set of those lights would really make my sewing more enjoyable and peaceful.

I really enjoy your tutorials and have use them several times to make gifts for my family and friends. Thank you for your blog.

  237. 50% of my sewing time is early evening to midnight… about once or twice a month. No, I don’t get to sew too often… but, to be fair, I need these lights in the daytime too, almost as much, because my apartment is poorly lighted. I bought the earlier Inspired LED sewing machine lights kit and installed it on my new Singer CG 590 on the day the machine arrived. I just love the lights, because they are bright enough to help me see to sew, but not harsh on my eyes like incandescent lights can be. One thing I wish I had done was to order a slightly longer power supply cable with the set…

  238. Karen Burrell says:

Because my hubby works at night, all my sewing is done while he is gone. I like sewing when the house is quiet. I use an Ott Light for my night sewing, but I still have shadows, these light look like they would solve that problem. My extra light helps, but I can’t sew anything with darker material colors, just not enough light. Winning these lights would set me free to sew to my hearts desire.

  239. Nice! My sewing room is naturally dark and this light would be a big help. Sure hope I win

  240. Thank you Inspired LED for this new giveaway.

  241. Terry Clark says:

The older I get the harder it is to see without great lighting. I sew at night quite often and could really use these lights. They sound super! Thank you Inspired LED for offering this giveaway.

  243. Kathy Erickson says:

I don’t sew often at night only because of the poor lighting available! I would love a set of these LED lights so I could stitch the night away!

  244. The lighting in my sewing room is not adequate for my aging eyes. I would really enjoy winning these lights so that I can sew more for my grandchildren.

  245. Sewing at night isn’t even a possibility right now. Would love to win and use the lights, plus I could share some with my best friend who got me started sewing. She’s a seamstress but doesn’t do much sewing at night because of poor lighting also.

  246. I sew at night all the time. I think it’s the best time for my creativeness to come alive. I have a 10 year old babylock sewing machine. The lighting is sew dull… I have 3 lights in place to try and get adequate lighting. But doing this, I lose sewing space…. :-(. This new LED lighting will be a welcome feature in my sewing area and my eyes. I would love to have my sewing machine brighten up, so I can continue to "SEW TO MAKE SOMEONE HAPPY!"

  247. Carrie Arnold says:

These LED lights would be perfect for me; I am a terrible insomniac & I love to sew but in the ‘wee small hours’ the integral light on my sewing machine just doesn’t give enough light…..so, I wander around my little sewing room looking for tomorrows inspiration, you know what I mean, checking out patterns, fabric scraps, etc, lovely, but I would just love to be able to see well enough to use my sewing machine without squinting! Oh for the solution being as easy as these LED lights….fantastic…no more boring nights, just productive ones, Hurrah!

  248. This new Inspired LED light would be awesome! I have cataracts and can’t sew at night any more. I can’t sew on dark fabric bindings during the day unless the sun is shining in my window. Getting old sucks! Email is applique@gmail.com
    Thanks!

  250. myself like some of the others 71 years old have my over 50 singer we are good friends, but vision not like it used to be

  254. oops forgot to say about night sewing…I work during day and when I go in to sew at night the overhead light is horrendous flourescent and little lights positioned help but these would be great!

  255. Dorian Goodyk says:

I have a lamp near my machine, but still can’t sew at night. This would be perfect!!

  256. I sew at night as often as I sew during the day, maybe more so (even though I’m retired which doesn’t really make sense, but there you are 🙂 ). I always pull my big old standing light over to the machine and shine it directly onto the stitching area. These Inspired LED lights look like they’d solve a myriad of problems. Thanks for the opportunity to win one.

  257. Sue Jorgensen says:

This new LED lighting would work so well on my Babylock machine. As it is right now, I need to keep moving my floor lamp over to the machine when I sew. Night time sewing is next to impossible. This LED lighting would increase my sewing opportunities. Thank You for offering this Great Giveaway….!

I have vision problems and have been thinking of getting one of these for my Brother 1500S and another for my Pfaff. I need all the light I can get and hubby has put in as much as we can…but night sewing is not something I can do easily. Would love to have a kit! Thanks for the opportunity.

  259. Shannon Olson says:

I’m constantly trying to configure more lights around my machine. I would love to win one to these kits. Thanks!

  263. I always sew at night because I work during the day. I am always trying to get the light right to see what I am doing. This seems to be the answer to my prayers. Maybe with this, I will not have tired eyes at the end of the night.

  267. I feel more creative at night and evening. Those lights would be very helpful!

  268. How wonderful to have a well lit sewing machine!

  269. Most of my sewing is at night and if it isn’t, it might as well be as I live in a dark log cabin and I need light even in the daytime. Thanks for a great giveaway!

  270. Mel Mcwhite says:

I do most of my sewing late at night! I am actually sewing on this lovely sunny afternoon and can really realize how bad it is for my eyes (and stitching) to sew at night! Thanks for the chance to win a light kit!

  271. I ordered the light kits and absolutely LOVE the amount of light given off. What difference they make!!
I have a question for you: I have a Bernina 1630 (which has practically the same body as the 1530) and would like some advice about where to place the lights. I have a length of lights that (looking at the front of the machine) extend from the bottom right, along the curve at the top, and end at the left where the needle is inserted. I’m holding the lights on with little pieces of painters tape, anxious about sticking them on more permanently. I haven’t used the machine for anything large recently and wonder if the lights will be in the way as I try to work the fabric through and around in the area to the left of the needle.
In your experience, where should the lights’ placement begin and end so that they still provide as much light as possible but not be a hindrance.
    I appreciate your help.
    Laurel

    1. Hi Laurel,
On my Bernina 1530 I only have a tiny strip of lights along the top (maybe 4" long – it was the first ‘prototype’), but even though there are only 9 little LED bulbs total, they provide an amazing amount of light! If you think having the strip go all the way to the bottom might hinder a quilt or something large passing through you could keep them stuck on with painters tape until you have a chance to test it out. Whether you choose a long strip or a short strip, I think you’ll be fine.

So glad you got the lights and hope you love them as much as I do!

      Caroline

  272. I very often stay up and sew late into the night. These lights look like they would be great!

  273. Michelle Chitty says:

I do sew at night in our spare bedroom with an overhead light. So when I lean in to see something it blocks out the light.

  274. I need more light so I CAN sew at night. I struggle with shadows from my overhead lights. Drives me crazy.

  275. Sobana Sundar says:

My sewing time is only after 9 pm. And the overhead light brings in a lot of insects. LED seems like it will work well for me.

  276. John Hutchens says:

    I sew every night

  277. Pamela Crane says:

  283. I sew almost everyday, this light would be sooo helpful!

  284. Marian Croose says:

I often sew late into the night, because time slips away when you are enjoying yourself. My eyes (and body !) are getting older, so good light is becoming more important when sewing.

  285. Rena Marr says:

I usually sew at night, after work-the lights on my machine leave much to be desired. These would be amazing!

  286. Unfortunately, I always sew at night because that’s when the family is in bed or calmed down. I just squint a lot or try to aim a light in the spot. I had no idea there were light kits! Awesome!

  287. This is a super. I had no idea they had this on the market. I have been using multiple light sources to get enough light to see what I am sewing. gwenmcdow@yahoo.com
