Show off Saturday… Sewing Projects for Spring Quilt Market!

A bag and a pouch from the same pattern!

I’m so excited… I get to go to Spring Quilt Market this year for the first time! I have attended Fall Quilt Market for 4 years now, but never spring so this is a real treat. I can’t wait to catch up with friends I haven’t seen for 6 months, and of course to roam the aisles at Market soaking in the fabric!

A couple months ago my friend at Blend Fabrics asked me if I’d sew up a couple projects for their Spring Market booth – something I LOVE to do because you wouldn’t believe how much fun it is to be roaming around Market and suddenly see something that YOU made, lol!

Anyway I said yes, of course, but then I started freaking out because I was deep into preparations for my new Craftsy class Colorful Patchwork Bags and Baskets. Luckily I am a smart cookie and I found a way to do both at the same time. This gorgeous matching tote bag and zipper pouch were samples for my class and now they are on their way to Market.

The fabrics are from Anna Griffin’s new Seafarer Collection. I sewed the huge tote from 8 1/2” squares and the zipper pouch from 3” squares – they are both from the same pattern with minor variations (like a zipper or a magnetic clasp)… the size of your finished project depends on which size square you decide to use, isn’t that fun??? All of the projects in the class are completely scalable. ๐Ÿ™‚

This Seafarer tote really makes me want to go on a cruise… it would carry everything I need for that first day before your luggage arrives in your room.

And by the way… what animal would you call that little critter I stitched up from felt? I’m curious so leave your answer in the comments, please. ๐Ÿ™‚
