How to sew easy and adorable chair pockets (a.k.a. seat sacks)!

chair pockets

Sewing these chair pockets is so much fun… and fast and easy too! This time I used home decor weight fabric to streamline my chair pocket sewing pattern even more. The chair pockets fit over the back of a classroom chair and have two clever pockets for school materials. I’ve also seen these called seat sacks online.

To convince you how easy this sewing project is, my friend came over to help, and she had never sewn before, lol!

In 2 days we made 20 chair pockets, can you believe that? Like I mentioned above, using home decor weight fabric made the pockets sturdy without using the binding that I put on the original chair pocket sewing pattern. I think they look cuter this way too. I was so fortunate to find all this designer-quality star fabric at the thrift store!

Incidentally, the chair pockets fit perfectly on my sewing room chairs too. Maybe I need to sew a couple for myself, what do you think?

So, what have you been sewing up this week? Did you make something with one of my free sewing tutorials or patterns? I would love to see! Tag me on Instagram @sewcanshe.
