Christmas came early for me this year in the form of this lovely little machine that I have grown to adore. The Simplicity 12 Needle Deluxe Felting Machine does a lot of the same things that you can do with hand-felting, but at an amazing speed. Since I am a girl who can’t get enough applique work, this machine is right up my alley and I have been having so much fun.
Your sewing machine works so hard for you that I know you want to keep her purring. Just a few hours of sewing will cause fuzz and lint to build up under the needle plate. Sometimes pieces of thread can get lost under there too. Cleaning your sewing machine regularly can prevent broken needles and mechanical problems.
Every year my boys’ elementary school holds a little holiday shop the first week of December. The kids can bring in a little bit of money (that’s all they need) and shop for Christmas gifts. All of the items are donated by parents and a large portion are handmade. Everything is marked super low and all of the proceeds go to the school. My kids have lots of fun with it. Especially when they see things I made – they love to buy my things, isn’t that funny?
Once you find a magazine that fits your tastes it’s just delicious. Like receiving your favorite dessert in the mail every month, only its a new version of your favorite dessert made with yummy new ingredients and flavors. {Have I been taste testing the Thanksgiving treats too much today?}

When I was at Quilt Market in Houston last month I was lucky enough to see lots of the new gadgets and tools (sewing ‘toys’) that are coming out, and I’m really excited to be able to review one of them for you now: the TrueCut Rotary Cutting System from the Grace Company.
Here’s the Emmaline Bag that I finished sewing this week and it turned out so great! I think that listing all of my WIP’s on Thursday really helped me to narrow my focus on one thing and get it done… and it helped because everything else was put away. As you can see, the first project I took out to finish was my Emmaline Bag and I couldn’t be more pleased with the way it turned out.
I've been feeling so bogged down and harried lately with a million things to do at once and nothing getting finished until the last minute that I decided it was time to take a breath and change something. The thing that needed to be changed was the gigantic pile of fabric, paper, patterns, books, notions, tools, and lots and lots of scraps that was stifling any creativity I might have felt.
I sewed a bunch of boxy zipper pouches using laminated fabric and they look great! Boxy pouches are going to be a huge craft fair item this year. Maybe I’m just saying that because I have lots of craft fair friends, and maybe not. But I’m pretty darn confident that if you don’t make one (or more) of these yourself, you’ll be getting it somewhere else. So why not make your own???
The holidays are nearly here and there are a million uses for a star: a decoration… a toy… a tree topper??? This star was made with less than a 1/3 yard of mango cuddle from Shannon Fabrics.
