A lovely Surprise at the Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge

Last week our family was lucky enough to visit the Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. It was an amazing experience which I’ll tell you a little bit about in a minute, but first I have to show you this gorgeous art quilt they have behind the scenes. When she found out that I was a quilter, the manager there, Cynthia, was sweet enough to offer to take me back to see it and let me take a few pictures.

Sewing A Little Suitcase from Laminate Fabric

Why should you sew with laminated fabric? It is sturdy and often doesn’t need the interfacing and stabilizers that patterns call for. It is also much more durable and easy to wipe off than regular cotton. This laminate fabric came from laminates.etsy.com (Deborah has an awesome selection). When I received it I loved it so much I knew that I had to make something special. That’s why I decided to make a little suitcase.

Book Review and Giveaway: Flip Dolls by Laura Wilson

I love books. I love to curl up on the couch and enter another world. I love to browse, learn, and be inspired. This little book looked good from the cover, but I was absolutely delighted to find that each project in Flip Dolls and Other Toys by Laura Wilson held a surprise! Lark Books is letting me give away a copy… so read to the end.

I finished sewing my Emmaline Bag – Pattern Review!

Here’s the Emmaline Bag that I finished sewing this week and it turned out so great! I think that listing all of my WIP’s on Thursday really helped me to narrow my focus on one thing and get it done… and it helped because everything else was put away. As you can see, the first project I took out to finish was my Emmaline Bag and I couldn’t be more pleased with the way it turned out.

Sewing three versions of a knit top and dress from Ottobre Design Magazine

What happens when you find a pattern that you love??? You make all versions of it, of course. Last month when the latest Ottobre Design came in the mail (women’s issue 5/2013), I was so intrigued by a raglan tee with shoulder darts. I’ve sewn lots and lots of raglan tees for my kids, and none of them had shoulder darts. I know that raglan patterns for woven fabrics usually have darts, but this was a knit. I just had to try it.
