I’ve been counting the days until I could share this month’s Classic Blocks: Fresh Fabrics tutorial and giveaway with you! All because of the fabric Blend sent for us to use this month… the delightful collection ‘The Makers’ from Cori Dantini. It includes several panel prints with lovely ‘Makers’ sewing, knitting, and painting. They are so pretty and cinderella-ish. And the block that I chose for us to make this month – the Economy Block – is perfect for using fussy cut squares from your favorite fabrics.
Happy New Year! Are you going to keep making classic blocks with us? This month my friend Becky (you might know her from the SewCanShe Sewcialites group) helped me pick an especially fun one. And its really easy! I used the delightful and colorful Equinox by Ana Davis for Blend Fabrics.
Welcome December! It’s probably my favorite month. So I picked one of my favorite quilt blocks for this month’s Classic Blocks: Fresh Fabric post, the Bear Paw. I decided to make a mini quilt using nine 3” blocks. I picked some lovely blue and orange prints from the Turkish Delight Collection by Josephine Kimberling for Blend Fabrics.
This month our Classic Blocks: Fresh Fabric block is the Yankee Puzzle and it’s so much fun!
I love the spool block. It’s the quilt that a quilter makes for herself. 🙂
This easy quilt block tutorial includes cutting instructions for the 18” block (like I made) and a 12” block.
Are you ready for an easy quilt block? The Rail Fence may be the easiest quilt block ever, but it’s not boring! Put a bunch together and there are so many fun variations.
We’re spending a year making gorgeous quilt blocks using the classic patterns and fresh modern fabrics from Anna Griffin and Blend Fabrics! Last month we made the Dutchman’s Puzzle Block and before that the Churn Dash Block and the Friendship Star. This month I’m so excited to make two blocks and put them together: the Nine Patch and the Snowball blocks! As we go along you can search for ‘classic’ in the search box above to access all of the posts.
I’m so excited to show you how to sew the Dutchman’s Puzzle quilt block. It’s great for little quilts and big ones, plus my easy tutorial is perfect for us to practice making flying geese.
Here is the twin sized quilt that I sewed with huge friendship star blocks and romantic floral fabrics designed by Anna Griffin. Sewing a quilt with such large blocks means that you get done faster and can enjoy the quilt sooner! I made this entire quilt from start to finish in one Month – that’s pretty fast for me.
