There’s also no need to spend lots of money on supplies to get started. You can find supplies at the dollar store that will work just fine; stretch your budget! Super Easy Four Patch

The photo shows a basic four patch quilt block. If you make lots of these and put them together you get a whole quilt top. To make this quilt block you only need to choose three fabrics: light, medium, and dark.
The quick quilt instructions in my free quilt pattern makes 16 four-patch blocks. Your quilt will finish as a 48’’ x 48’’ throw because each block is 12” x 12”. Have fun!

It does take practice, but what a great thing to practice. Right?! My Quarter Log Cabins quilt comes together to be 50″ x 60″ and only requires three yards of fabric. I’m sure yours will turn out wonderfully.

Make a quilt using any size panel by adding a pretty border. It might be the fastest way to sew a quilt. Here is my free sewing pattern for adding a border to any panel.
It doesn’t matter what size the panel is, you’ll be able to sew sawtooth stars for each corner, and make a nice clean border to match. For the finished size you’ll just add 16″ x 16″ to your panel measurements.

Another great quilting style is called bargello. First, you will cut strips of fabric and sew them together in rows. Then, you’ll cut across the rows making new rows of colored squares. Finally, you will arrange them in a specific pattern so that each color forms a diagonal design.
