Sewing Pattern and Product Reviews

Let’s talk undies! Does your little girl love those ‘boy shorts’ underwear? My almost-6 year old does. And I really don’t mind her wearing them since they are actually more modest (and they look more comfortable) than the skimpier variety. I’ve been so excited to make her some new underwear, but no matter how many different ways I searched ‘boy short underwear for girls’ I could not find a single pattern. Am I crazy? And believe me, I wish I could ‘unsee’ some of the things my searches brought up, lol.

I had so much fun sewing with my 9 year old daughter Chloe this week. Rachel Low of Pins and Needles sent us a copy of her book Girl’s Guide to DIY Fashion and asked us to join in her blog hop… how fun!

This is a real accomplishment for me – my girls’ Easter dresses were done 2 weeks before Easter! Last year they were barely done on time. (but I did give you a Shrug Pattern}.

Sometimes I feel so lucky I could scream. Like the day I got this beautiful package from my friendly neighborhood UPS man…

I use my iron as much as I use my sewing machine. And I know I’m not the only one. Having a good iron makes all the difference in my book, so I was super-excited when Panasonic contacted me and offered to let me try their new 360 Degree Freestyle Cordless Iron. Panasonic is a sponsor of QuiltCon 2015 and since I am a MQG member and have a quilt hanging in the show (I guess), they picked me to get this iron, yay!

I’ve been using it for the past week, and I can honestly say I love it. So here’s my honest review:

I’m so excited about this new book that I get to review. Virginia Lindsay of Gingercake has given away all her secrets… this is seriously the most practical and beautiful book about running a sewing related business that I’ve ever seen. Sewing to Sell is an instant classic.

There are so many great book reviews going on right now! I was very excited to be invited to join in the fun for Sumiko Fujita’s 318 Patchwork Patterns. This book is not new. It was originally published in Japanese in 2005. After being out of print and hard to find for years, World Book Media has finally released an English version.

I made another pink peplum! The first was cute {see it here} and I got lots of sweet feedback (thank you!), but I’m not really comfortable wearing it because the neckline is so big. I feel awkward in it unless I wear a tank underneath, and that defeats the purpose of a cute knit top to throw on.
